Loading a bike into a tuck or trailer

I tried to delete my original reply as it is in the wrong forum but I can only edit it. Sorry, carry on.

Yes, I kept the battery in my work shop inside.

    Winter Storage?

If you have an owners manual, there is some good info in there. Keep the tank full and add some Stabyl. Make sure trire pressure is correct and place on ctr stand. Use a wood block to somthing to put under the fork/axle to raise the front tire off the ground to prevent flat spots. As I...

    want to shine like me?

I actually use a very slightly damped cloth with Armour All. Works on all hoses, paint, windscreen, even helmet visors. Just keep off the tires (ok on cars, not on bikes), brake disks, and handle grips as it is quite slick. Keep off your seat too! Stuff gives everything a show room look and...

    Tight clutch cable?

OOPs, just read FZinNH, and yes, the WD-40 would work to wash it out only, not as a lube. So maybe I will try to switch to a graphite!

    Tight clutch cable?

My FZ also has a stiffer feel to it. So did my old FJ600 compared to most other bikes. I am using a wet lube called "Chain Wax", which is multipurpose for cables as well, but I have been told by my dealer a dry graphite is the best to use as it does not collect/attract any dirt. I don't think I...

    Winter storage

:thumbup:Thanks for the info. I suppose using an inexpensive oil for the first "wash" would be ok and then fill with the correct oil. More importantly though for sidewallpuncture, where in Canada do you reside, the west coast, because as of today we received about 4" of snow and the main...

    Winter storage

First off, sorry, but this may be another oil change question. When I prep the bike for winter storage, I change the oil and the filter, to get rid of the old caustic oil. Of course all other preps are done as well, but this is an oil question. Come spring time, I do not immediately change the...

Crazy for wanting a career overhaul?

Well I am now 50, went to technical college at 19, got a job, got into a management type postion, became a manager, went back to school for my degree, then was laid off (with severance) after 28 years working for the same company. The pay was good and of course very steady, but also very high...

    Winter Riding

Just for laughs, this is my street last March, 2008, after it had been cleaned, deep in Southern Canada. No that cloud of snow is not an FZ rider trying to ride, it is my neighbour with a snow blower. My FZ was tucked in all coxy like under a blanket in the garage, just like a bear hibernating...

    Always Wear Your Helmet!

As AGMOM98 says, wear all your gear all the time. Non bike folks always ask, "Aren't you hot?". I always say "yeah baby". Makes me cringe when I see a youngish girl on the back of a bike with short shorts and heels. Wow, looks good, but what a potential waste. Anything can happen, getting...

    You can't laugh!!

Oh my. This opens up a whole lot of options, Mohawks, full heads like Elvis, Billy Preston Afro's, that would be cool!

How do you fill your tank?

I would strongly suggest to never sit and fill as various people have indicated. I witnessed first hand, (albiet with an SUV) a fire started with static charges. Was not pretty, and was not my SUV. But to think what would happen if the fumes ignited while sitting almost over the tank with your...

    What is the best Oil.

Re: How to do an oil change Probably has been asked or mentioned before, but what the heck. After an oil change, I have done 2 so far and both times (especially the first service change) it seemd that shifting gears became easier, and engine ran smoother. Is this true or am I imagining it?

    Clutch Cable Lube

OK, I am a nube as well, I take my cable right out and "pour" in cable lube by making a funnel type thing, then moving the cable back and forth until runs out the other end. Stupid question? Using the "tool" in the picture, where do you actually inject the lube. This looks a lot easier than...

    600-1,000 mile service

I asked my dealer about doing my first service check and he stated that it is basically only an oil and filter change, and suggested I do it. So I said thanks and did it myself, saving up to an hour labour charge. I also lubed my cables and every 500 km lube the chain as well.

FZ6 buying experience - it could happen to you!

Hey Zack, no problem, it is nice to look at, and more fun to ride. So just look forwrad from here. Regards the cars, a guy I worked with purchased a higher end Ferrari from Kentucky or somewhere further south. No he is not rich, just a car buff, but it seemd worth it for him and all the hassels...

Just another reason why I love bikes...

Ok. not on my bike, but in my 92 Lumina Z34, (next best thing to a bike?) a few years back, 4 lane divided highway, after work, long line of slow cars. speed limit is 60 mph. I am in the passing lane getting frustrated, tailgating, One by one thay are pulling into the right hand lane when...
