Just tripped 82k. It is a testament to Yamaha how little I know about maintenance and how few problems I have had. (Read as self-inflicted electrical) Really shooting for 100k before 2028. (Original owner bought new and 20th anniversary with her)
I'm just skeptical of a $50 dollar clutch. I don't roll burnies or rip wheelies, but how long could it last for $50?
My stocker is just over 75k miles and I figure it may be time to put the old horse down.
Anyone have a source for a solid clutch for a couple more bucks?
Is that fuse located in the box under the back panel?
I've had mine since new in 08 and it's remarkable how ignorant I remain due to the reliability of the bike. Good luck with the speedo.
I checked tps in diag mode. #'s tracked smoothly through range. IDK where a vac leak would be coming from.
I'm NOT a mechanic nor do i play one on tv. Wouldn't fuel be worse higher in revs? There is a bit of hunting at idle, but I'm still getting 54ish mpg and at 340lbs that's like running a...
I recently saw a video, "4 common problems with the FZ6!" by calvin mc.
In this video he proposes finding a retrofit for our admittedly budget ignition system with a coil on plug system for improved ignition efficiency. I tried searching to see if this has been approached on here but didn't see...
Not only was relay okay, the fuse did it's job PERFECTLY and a connector pulled apart. Put the male in the female (giggity) and presto chango bob's your uncle. All is well.
I'm hoping the continuity beep on the tester will work. Unfortunately, I've been slammed and haven't seen the bike. Getting back at it after work tomorrow. Thank you to all who have chimed in. Hoping I can just replace a relay. I changed the popped fuse, so I hope it went before some really...
I know the first question of tech support is "Is the computer plugged in?" but I've had the bike since new in 08. I'm aware the engine needs to have run before the lights get power. I tried several bulbs including an led so all being burned out is very unlikely. I'll swing out and get a cheapie...
I recently went on a nearly 2 hour ride at highway speeds. When I returned I noticed when it got dark I had no headlight. I checked the fuse and it was popped. Thought all is well, replaced the fuse, and still no headlight. Now, the fuse remains unpopped, but no light. There was some corrosion...
Then why was I told NEVER to touch the first cylinder, and to adjust around it? Something about setting 1 to "factory spec"?
Not being snarky, just trying to clarify.
I've had my 08 since new, and 63k miles later all I've done is oil, brakes, and tires. A friend "did" a tb synch but buggered it. I got it close enough later on. I love my bike, after all, I've been with her longer than I've been with my wife ;)
This seems cyclical, only hoping there may be some new faces... Also if someone (who said they could do it) monkeyed with cyl 1 while doing the previous synch, how would I find where it was from the factory?
You guys with the colored wheels, did you just spray them? Or are they anodized? Powder coated? Looking to add a little flavor without dropping a lotta cheddar.
Posted about it a while back when everything was getting planned, but with all the coof nonsense going on, they just did a local thing. I'd still love to ride out there, perhaps when all the "peaceful protests" settle down it'd be a great trip.
