bwahahaha! Ever do something really stupid? After eating dinner, I went back out and checked it out again. I figured it out... bar end weight was rubbing. I'm an idiot!
I just changed my bars out to the FZ1 bar. Everything went just along swimmingly (I elected to grind the little plastic tab off the throttle sleeve). When I got everything back together, fired it up and noticed the throttle would not return. I figured there was not enough slack in the cable, so...
I did indeed get it off Ebay, and it was around $100 (too much for a plastic part, but what are you going to do).
I'm going to pop it off tonight and put on some fabric around the metal tabs, thanks for the tip chemicalsmile.
Heh... the cowl shipped from Powerbronze with a clear plastic film over it. That is what you see in the 3rd pic, it was still on the part. I peeled it off after it was installed back on the bike.
I finally got tired of looking at my 2up seat and decided to bite the bullet and buy a seat cowl. The Powerbronze won out of the TCP, it looked more OEM to me.
Just for reference, here's the tail end to start.
The install is pretty easy, first you rip off your seat. Flip it over and...
Not sure where to put this in the forum, but does anyone have a Joe Rocket Manta tail bag? Does it work with the velcro straps? I've got the tank bag and it works quite nice, but I'm looking for some additional storage. Pictures would be cool.
And I had to go and have some surgery on Thursday, effectively ruining the first good weekend of the year! If your doctor recommends you to get a septoplasty, you'd better make sure you are ready for some pain. Feels like I got kicked in the nose with a steel toe boot!
tolgatt, thanks for the great guide! When I got the vista cruise in the mail, I had no clue how to install it, but your step by step was perfect. Now I'm just waiting for the wind to die down so I can road test it. For those wondering, I wear a XL glove size, and I didn't notice too much of the...
I had gotten bd43's harness awhile ago, but was waiting for an almost empty tank of gas before I did the work. I got around to it this weekend. Very easy to do, I found another website: Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 dual headlight mod (have both headlights on) | David Hurst. It walked through step by...
So is this for a plug in model or one you have to solder in? I see you mentioned that we'd have to wait a few weeks, so I'm assuming this is to get the plug in kit?
At my work, we build and repair corporate aircraft. Just about every bolt needs to be torqued to spec before it gets an airworthy release. I suspect the engineers gave the torque ratings for a reason. Sure, we could just use the ol' "feel" method; I'd rather not fly on a plane that had that type...
I was riding solo, but will try to find someone for next time. There are not a lot of sports riders here, mostly just people cruising or going fast in a straight line. The good news is I'm about 5 minutes away from the local emergency room at that spot! I always wear my gear, even with the 90+...
It seems the economic fall was good for something after all. There is a failed land development in the town where I live. They got as far as building the sales building and one showroom house, but nothing else... but roads!
You have to go down a gravel road a bit to get there, and it's not...
I think I'm probably going to go with the Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0. Just have to wait until next payday. Plus, it's decided to start raining again here, so the bike is in the garage :(
I was going to take pictures, but the camera batteries died! I followed the directions up until the point I had to free the wires. At that point I just ripped off the back and went for it. Made it easier to move around and relay the wires during the reinstall. I got my kit off ebay as well, it...
I installed it tonight. I was having a pain running the wires until I decided to just remove the whole "tail" assembly (tail light and cowling). Made the job a whole lot simpler. I picked it up off ebay, makes a huge improvement in the look of the rear of the bike!
As the rain lets up a bit here, I've started commuting to work on the FZ. The problem is although I have a jacket, gloves, boots, I have no pants! Lame I know, but I've always been afraid to buy overpants because I was worried of the fit and how hot they would be. Can anyone recommend some...
