One thing worth noting is that this bike is way beyond the riding skills of a brand new rider. What I mean by that is the standard shocks and forks will be fine for someone who has just learned to ride. They are fine for someone like me who has been riding for 20years and uses it for commuting.
On top of getting the bike in good fettle as already suggested can I suggest some crash bungs. If you lay your bike over or if it falls over off the stand it will stop things getting broken.
The other thing to consider is decent riding gear - helmet, gloves, jacket and boots.
Whilst spending money on the look of your bike may seem like a good idea, finano ally at the start it is like throwing money away. Invest it in some good gear.
