So this is Your first time when You have a problem with Xring chain? If so maybe we might reconsider a second chance for this type of chain? Well, in my case this is my first Xring and first fail already ;)

Yes, its my first X-ring chain. I've had a Kawasaki ZRX 1100, reg O-ring chain (the largest o-ringed chained bike), never had an issue.

I bought my bike from my friends son (original owner) who put 4,500 miles on the OEM chain and lubed it ONCE in that time frame(bike was abused).

I squeezed it out to 12,000 miles (total) before replacing the chain.

If an OEM chain can go 4,500 miles lubed ONCE, and a fancy X-ring chain, MAINTAINED, 6,000 miles, before it starts coming apart, there's an issue there.

I won't be experimenting/wasting $ on an X-Ring...:(

All right then. When Easter finishes I will go to my local Yamaha dealer and get the price for OEM chain.

As for now I've found out that one of our dealers, at least online (Easter time so no way to call until Tuesday) has this chain for around 900 PLN's so about $200. Crazy, isn't it?

By the way? The OEM chain is 520, 525 or 530?
EDIT - cancel that, I've found out here it's 530 so the sprockets should be OK.

For me they look good enough to keep them on the bike. Based on the price of original oem chain I think we will go different ways and if oem is much more expensive than xring I'll go for xring, giving it a second chance.

So a little update.
Called my dealer today. It was true that chain only is around $225. BUT if I take the whole set - chain and sprockets, the price drops to about $150. Strange.

Anyway I've called some local motorcycle shops, got some prices. For about $85 I will get a new Xring chain. If I add a couple of $$ for connecting it I will still get better price than for OEM chain. I don't know if I am capable of installing the master link properly.

So I've just ordered the XRing chain. We will see how it lasts. And when the chain or sprockets wear out I'll get a complete new set of sprockets and the chain from Yamaha dealer. Still I think that I sooner change the bike than the chain again but who knows :)

Dropped the swingarm, lubed everything around while having access and finally changed to new xring chain. Took me about 2hours. I wonder how long it will last this time :)
