CR9EK stock plugs

So the stock plugs are boxed at .7mm from NGK. Yamaha spec is .6 to .7mm for the FZ6.
I have read that the dual ground plugs should never be gapped. If that is true, any significant mileage on the plug will probably put it out of spec. I would love to hear from a Yamaha service shop whether they gap them, or just replace if they have any wear on them (because they come pre-gapped at the max. allowable).
Before I read that they should never be gapped, I tried. I have several of the proper gapping tools for regular plugs and none would fit into the tight space on the CR9EK.
A couple questions, are most people using single ground plugs instead of the EK's ? Or if you are using the dual ground EK's, what are you using for a gapping tool?

Just put in Iridium's, don't check gap and go ride..

Should you want to check gaps in the multi strap plugs, use a "wire" feeler gauge.

Also, when the gap goes beyond spec's, their worn. Yes you can tighten the gap, but they
should be replaced..

I think you might be overthinking this. If the plug gap is in spec, then you are good to go. I get concerned if the tag is less than expected because it means the plug was dropped and likely damaged. If 3 plugs are at 0.7mm, and one is less and tighter than the spec…that plug gets replaced. Otherwise use them as they come out of the box.

The CR9EIX come pre-gapped at .8mm, I agree with @Motogiro 's caution about too large a gap in a wasted spark system.
CR9E are pre-gapped at .8mm as well. CR9EK are at least in range being pre-gapped at .7mm
If the '09 bikes are spec'd to use the plain E with a gap of .6 to .7, then I am pretty sure Yamaha expects them to be set to proper gap before install. I think that would be good to do with the EIX as well.
At least both the E and EIX can be gapped down to .6, which leaves some leeway for wear before going out of spec.
