Suzuki did a demo event today at Island Powersports here on Long Island.

Got there early and they booked me in for the first appt. at 10am.

The route had us going south for a bit on the Wantagh state parkway. The guide kept the speed down for a little bit and after we cleared the usual hiding places for LEO's it was game on. Not going to say how fast I went as that would violate rules of the forum. But let me just say the guide was very liberal with the speed he let us go at.

So the bike itself -
Ergonomics were quite good for a supersport. I've only ridden a 6R prior but have sat on really all of the big four SS bikes. This one felt the most user friendly of them all.

Suspension feels light and really the bike is extremely nimble. Steering was razor sharp as you would expect from a SS bike

Acceleration was off the charts fast. The only reference I had for it was the Ninja 1000 which was a bit heavier. When nailing the throttle in 3rd gear at about 60 I could feel the front get very light as if the wheel would leave the ground. I wasn't going to push it there.

No dissapointment either in cornering as this parkway has some nice sweepers. Didn't get to lean it over as much as I would have liked but was left with a feeling of confidence.

I know this is a squid bike and my lower back wouldn't permit this old guy from owning it as a primary bike. But man.. I can't stop grinning. What an amazing ride. I can see why it is so popular.

My other ride: the Hayabusa. Verdict? The negative things people say are spot on, like feeling really heavy and wide. It had a nice punch in acceleration but honestly so did the Concours. yeah, it kind felt like that. All in all I found it quite boring after getting off the Gixxer.

I wouldn't call the gsxr a squid bike, it's a great piece of tech and engineering it's just a shame that it got that title because it's the choice of squids lol. Glad you enjoyed it, I could see myself on the gixxer but I highly doubt you'll ever see me even think about a busa, not my kinda bike :D
