Indeed, we all do stupid stuff. I remember, years ago, getting my Mustang back from the body shop after T-boning a red light runner. Immediately after getting it back fixed and freshly painted I set about lowering the car. I jacked it up, installed the rear lowering blocks and then went about putting the shorter springs in the front. Upon finishing, I put the car back on the ground and took it for a spin.
While I was cruising down the road I noticed a horrible vibration. Thinking it was the driveshaft being out of balance/alignment after working on the rear, I proceeded to limp home at 20mph. I had to make a right turn and all of a sudden, whump, the left front corner of the car dropped to the ground. I got out to see my brand new wheel/tire combo lieing under the car, but not before tearing hell out of the fender.
I had forgotten to tighten the lug nuts.
Stupid mistakes are great learning opportunities. BTDT.
