Hi everyone. I'm dealing with a frustrating starting issue on my Yamaha, hoping someone here might have some insight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Here are the details
Yamaha FZ6 – S, 2008 registered in 2009.
77 HP version.
Normal process:
The key is inserted and the ignition is turned on. The instrument cluster turns on, and the lights turn on.
Under normal circumstances, when the key is turned, you would hear a short buzzing sound followed by a click, after which the motorcycle can be started.
Current Process / Issue:
The key is inserted and the ignition is turned on. The instrument cluster turns on, and the lights turn on.
All functions can be operated. There is good voltage on the battery (which, by the way, is brand new).
However, the red immobilizer LED is flashing.
But there is no short buzzing sound or the subsequent click; if you try to start the bike, the starter motor does not engage.
If the battery voltage was low, you would be able to hear a starter struggling, but lacking sufficient power from the battery.
The scenario is exactly the same regardless of which key is used, including the red master key.
There are no obvious broken wires from the starter switch housing.
The immobilizer LED is shown below. There are no fault codes on the display.
What could it be?
