Seven days road trip, I don't need more luggage!

Castle of Almourol

P7212322.jpg
The Castle of Almourol is a medieval castle, located on a small islet in the middle of the Tagus River, in the civil parish of Praia do Ribatejo, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the municipal seat of Vila Nova da Barquinha, in the Portuguese Centre Region. The castle was part of the defensive line controlled by the Knights Templar, and a stronghold used during the Portuguese Reconquista.

I like this kind of sign on the road

Batalha Monastery

P7242615.jpg
The Monastery of Batalha (Portuguese: Mosteiro da Batalha), literally the Monastery of the Battle, is a Dominican convent in the civil parish of Batalha, in the district of Leiria, in the Centro Region region of Portugal. Originally, and officially known, as the Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory (Portuguese: Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória), it was erected in commemoration of the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota, and would serve as the burial church of the 15th-Century Aviz dynasty of Portuguese royals. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style.

Bridge somewere around Batalha.

Great first road trip!
Do recommend any of the places you stayed at?

The only place I can recommend is "Estrela do Norte" in Mogadouro. It's very simple but with very nice people.
The budget for the trip limited the options of Hotels.
Also in Mogadouro i can recommend you the "posta mirandesa" a kind if steak... at the restaurant "Europeu"! No budjet limitations on meals!

Great pics. Haven't been to Portugal in 20 years and then it was all travel by rail. Beautiful country and must be perfect for a road trip like you're taking.

The budget for the trip limited the options of accommodations, I went military for several years so I'm not very fancy with the floor I sleep in... I chose the Hotels by the price...
Despite I mention the "Estrela do Norte" a couple of posts before, it has 3 star rated, old decor... it's clean, with nice people and you have a roof. But I dont know if I should recommend it.
