Sorry to hear about your mishap. But glad you came out basically okay.

Also sorry to hear you are without a bike!

Just had an off of my own. I have a little less road rash than you, but man does it sting. It does happen in a flash. I can remember what happened, but as far as remembering how my body landed is beyond me. I just know that I skidded for a good 20 feet and the bike about 30 feet more. Not a fun event. Heal up quick man!

Road rash is a misnomer, it also occurs when the out side material shears the inside material aka skin. I have seen a ton of road rash without any visible damage to the protective layer. Friction generates heat, your skin don't like that one bit sir. This is why leathers often fair better, reduced shearing of underlying clothing & skin.
