I think it gets reused with the tail removal license plate kit I had on the bike. That had the little light above the plate if that's what you mean. I'm not at home but from the picture that's just the reflector I believe.

I got this same one off ebay and it says it should fit an 06

To be honest it fits pretty good but its not custom which makes me think you shouldn't have a problem at all. I dont think there is a big difference between an 06 tank and 09 but Im not 100%
