Tesla reveals the D - All-wheel-drive - Oct. 10, 2014

For a mere $14,000 more (putting the price at just north of 6 figures), you can upgrade your Model S to a Model D. It has dual electric motors (so now 4-wheel drive) giving an acceleration of Zero to Sixty in 3.2 seconds!!! That's faster than my Fizzer! Surprisingly the range is actually extended slightly. It also comes with autonomous driving, keeping the car in the highway lane, collision avoidance, and even reading the speed limit signs on the highway. Loved the chassis being demo'd by a robotic arm in the video!

Good interview with Elon Musk too, he's our new Steve Jobs (Space-X, Tesla, PayPal). His "electric car for the masses" is due in three years with a target price of $35K!

I wish I'd saved the article (was in either Time or Pop Mechanics), but another company has developed a different way to build lithium-ion batteries which:
1. Eliminates the fire hazard,
2. Increases the capacity by four times, and most importantly
3. Decreases the recharge time to "minutes"!!!!
The batteries have been developed and proven, they're supposed to be on the market in 2015. If all that's true, that's a game-changer.
Exciting Times!
