So I heard some ticking while at rpm, could be piston slap. Like I mentioned, piston slap has nothing to do with the pistons or rings, and is an indication of worn bearings (the protective coating is worn and they are now showing copper). It’s not an “emergency” but it also won’t correct itself. Ride the bike until the ticking is always there , and then you can determine if you want to make the investment in the bike. Since you don’t do your own work, it probably doesn’t make sense to pay a shop to replace the bearings on a bike with 107k miles.

A leak-down test will not confirm worn bearings. You would have to have oil analysis performed and look for copper in the oil.

You should be able to ride the bike without issue for 2,000 to 20,000 miles…who knows…like I said…ride it until the noise is always there and you can’t stand it anymore.

So what you mean is that , just leave it as its not worth rebuild the engine rather getting a new bike?

Yes, conrod bearings. There is a pair between each piston (journal). In order to inspect them the case must be split. The bearing caps are removed and the lower bearings can be inspected. If the lower bearing are showing wear, then the crank must be removed to replace the upper and lower bearing pairs. It’s a big job. I documented the process on the forum on a CB900 I rebuilt a few years ago.

I am uncertain whether this sound is a standard characteristic of the model or an indication that a valve adjustment is required. The motorcycle performs exceptionally well, it accelerates smoothly without hesitation, produces no exhaust smoke, and maintains a stable idle. However, the ticking noise remains a point of concern. Could anyone clarify the standard engine sound profile for this model, or provide a reliable reference video for comparison?
