'Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' Author Robert M. Pirsig Dies At 88 : The Two-Way : NPR

Read this book the year after I got my FZ, doesn't have that much to do with motorcycles but is more an odd philosophy look. I remember finishing the book on an airplane just as we were pulling into the gate, and the edition I had included the update after his son went to college (no spoilers) and it really shocked me as I left the plane, wow.

A friend told me about this book years ago; I tried to read it back then and just couldn't get into it...thought it was supposed to be about motorcycles, but as you said is more philosophical. When I read that he passed I figured I'd give it another shot - ordered a $4 copy on Amazon just now.

Where did you find the $4 copy? Lol When I bought my copy I think I paid over $10 on Amazon.

If something interesting happens at the end I might have to dive back into the book. But like Ohendo, I found it hard to get into.

The brief moments of motorcycle related talk was spread out between long drawn out talks of philosophy. I think I made it 1/3 of the way through before calling it quits.

Still sad to see him pass though.

It sure is a great book, my gf got me the book as a gift. Sad to hear that he passed. Def worth getting the book.
