In the graduating to bike thread I saw someone post that the Super Tenere would be their next bike. I've had mine on order since Sept and I keep getting more and more anxious as May dawns closer. I'm not going to sell m FZ since I own it, just switch my insurance to liability (why not keep it for less than $100 a year?). I was almost ready to sign on the dotted line on a BMW F800GS but saw Yammy's press release on the S10 which is EXACTLY what I wanted (since I cant afford a R1200GS Adv). Plus, now the FZ wont get hurt feelings having another brand in the garage.

Our local Yamaha rep is getting a blue one and has said I can buy it from him as a demo once he is done with the demo program on it. So I should be able to move on it in about 8 months to a year.

OK Dirk, next year bring that bad boy out here and I'll show you the dirt side of Northern Ca and Nevada

the super ten is very nice and capable machine... dirk will he get it with the sidebags? since i know that they were only available at no extra cost on the 2010 model..on the 2011 model you have to buy them separetely

very interesting bike, an R1200GS ADV killer for about
4K less, with Yamaha quality and you won't have to take
a second mortgage for maintenance...I like the blue except
for that cheesy graphic, prolly just a decal that you can get
off with a heat gun though, not much information on the
Yamaha.ca site about accessories though, can't imagine
even looking at that bike and not wanting a set of durable
hard bags

2012 model year is their North American debut.

Yes, bags, touring screen, and I forget the third option..... I would add the crash bars and skid plate probably.

ah ok that s great since an adventure bike without bags would have something missing. yeah get the full optionns its worth it. it should come with plastic headlamp protectors as well.

Ehh the OEM accessories are lackluster. For skid plates and crashbars that will actually save your bike, look into AltRider and for a pannier system there is no better than Touratech but they aren't for cheapass people.

In my email this morning ... Pete's Cycle in Baltimore, MD has a demo Super Tenere in their showroom though Feb 22.

agreed many will source extras on their own.....
but if Yamaha wants to be taken seriously in
this segment they better get some gear in their
own system and up on the website/brochures

I doubt they are rushed because its a well known fact in the ADV bike world that people dont buy OEM stuff because the AM will make a better product for a cheaper price. Hell, BMW knows this so well that they wised up and bought an aftermarket company.

Hi all just a fast note to let you know that I have set up a Super Tenere sister site to the FZ6 Forum.

It can be accessed at: Tenere-Forum.com
