My question is this what rpms does the engine turn at 45mph, 60mph, and 80mph in all gears if anyone can actually recall lol. I'm about due to replace my chain and sprockets and have been kicking around the idea of dropping a gear, but I've grown to love 2nd gear in the twisties, low enough for the grunt and can still push it up to 80ish, when I ride real hard I normally just leave it in second if the road can handle it. The roads I ride for fun generally I ride between 45-90 and 2nd gear is perfect for that, would I be happier with the 15t and having to shift gears more?

I went -1, +2 and it adds about 1,000RPM at any given speed. I'd imagine just -1 would add about 500-600RPM.

I'm about to go 17/48(close to 16/46) because on the highway 8000RPM is just annoying.

I have a 15 tooth front and stock rear. I can't speak to the specific speeds you asked about. But I can say that at 6000 I'm right at 65 and 7000 is right at 75. I don't find it uncomfortable to cruise at 75-80 with Leo Vince pipes and no db killers. Your exhaust however is much louder I bet so you'll have to be the judge on that.

Do you have a speedohealer? Those numbers sound kind of off if you do.

I calculated the error with a gps reading. It's 15%
That means that I was going 100km/h and the odometer displayed 115km/h with a 15 front and stock rear. It's not a huge difference in the rpm's, barely noticeable, around 500-750 rpms more. If you don't do a lot of highway driving you'll like it! (and even with highway driving, like I do, the 6th gear is powerful enough to cruise at any speed)

As was previously stated down 1 in front adds about 500 rpm in any gear. It doesn't sound like that much but I found it really pretty noticable. You could go down 1 in front first and see how you like it, then go +2 in rear sprocket if you want even more effect.

For my trip to the dragon, I will probably switch back to stock front sprocket. Nothing wrong with extra revs but it gets tiring after a couple of hours at 70+ mph. For spirited day rides the 15T works really well though. A super easy mod.

Thanks everybody for the info I think I've decided to buy both a 15 and a 16 in case I'm not happy with the 15, but again thanks for the info that was exactly what I was looking for

Yes I do. I am using a well agreed upon correction percentage from this site, I've never verified with gps but perhaps I should. Looking at the calculator above suggests my speedo is reading a bit low.

Just to add to the SpeedoHealer info. On two different bikes I have found the speedohealer's correction % is a bit off too. That is; before I installed the speedohealer, I calculated around 5.5% error in my speedo uising GPS, I adjusted the speedohealer to 5.5% and my speedo still had a few percent error. I went all the way up to an 8.2% setting on the speedohealer just to get an actual correction of the originally calculated 5.5%. My speedometer is right on the money now according to my GPS.

BTW: This was on my FZ1 with stock gearing, and the SH on my R* had a similar result.

Agree with you on this one. I too sometimes feel like I should go back to stock 16 T for more Highways/Freeway riding. The 15T is really nice for twisty riding though.
