Been looking for a slightly more sporty riding position than my current setup and it seems the FZ1 handlebar is the way to go :Flash:

I will have my Rizoma handlebar and risers for sale soon for those interested in a wider and more comfortable handlebar.

If they are the same size diameter risers as the stock bars, aren't you going to want to keep the risers so you can get the full turn radius of the bike?

The Rizoma bar is thicker 1 1/8' in the middle compared to the 7/8'. They made it thick to absorb vibration and made the tip 7/8' so that the handle and controls can fit in.

I read that most ppl that converted to the Fz1 bar did not have clearance problem, with a few where it would touch the tank. I can't tell why some are having this problem but i'm hoping i won't.

Mine has no issues. Although it is close to the tank it doesn't hit.

I like the dark finish on your bar and triple tree. Funny that you would post that picture because I was thinking I was going to miss the Rizoma's black finish. I am tempted to ask you how you did this but I'm going to restrain myself. I want to ride this summer and stop tinkling with my Fz.

I want to stop too - but it must be BLACK!!!!!

Bars are rattle canned GM Black Metallic with several coats of clear. Triple is powder coat. A mixture as Yama-Black powder (was more of Yama-Brown), so ended using Laser Black Metallic. Prismatic Powders...
I have a write up on it. . .

Ps - put the bars in the oven and warm them to 175 before and after painting. It cures hard and quick.

I went to the city Yamaha dealer yesterday
$106:00 for replacement FZ6 bars
$126:00 for FZ6R bars

If they order them in I have to buy them so I cant do a comparo between sweep and rise on both bars
totally sucks,
even the dealer said "go to the wreckers" at least I'll know if the wreckers are trying to stitch me up with high s/hand prices

Because of you, cans of paint will appear out of nowhere  and I will be compelled to use them.

But you're right. It has to be black :P. I'll do the bar then we'll see for the triple. Thanks for the oven tip.

Hmm you may want to have them check that price again. I just bought some and with shipping and tax they were 55 for the FZ6R bar.

Get them online! At least for the price, you won't regret it too much if you don't like it!

I had to do picture comparison to get an idea of the Fz1 bar sweep and rise but it is far from ideal. For $34 online, I thought it wasn't much of a risk. At $100+, I would have thought thrice.

I am sure you can find some visual comparison of the Fz6 and Fz6r in a thread somewhere in the forum or go to a wrecker.

But remember we are talking Australia and we tend to get ripped off on lots of prices for bikes, gear, spares, etc

but you guys getting bars for $30-40 made m want to check. I'll have to see how much to buy stateside and ship it over before I decide to do it or not

hi adrian,

i have installed the fz6r on my fz. as for rise it is identical to that of the fz bar. as for sweep i cannot really say as my fz bar was bent and so i could not compare. as for width they are the same tho. what i noticed tho is that the fz6r is slightly better bent than the stock bar, there isnt much, so dont expect a radical change in ergonomics. my wrist still gets a bit numb, but it takes longer. that being said it might be me as others have not reported such problems with their wrists. my next step is to get more comfortable grips.

the colour is darker on the fz6r bar so you might want to colour match the stock silver of the fz6. i did not bother, just something to be aware of.

I installed my bar today. It was more troublesome than I thought it would. The hole for control of the turn signal is not placed correctly so I had to cut the plastic bit. I did drill a hole for the throttle unit as I had read and planned for this. Then the black paint I did on the bar been scratched everywhere with the adjustment of the various holds on the bar. arg! The Rizoma bar end simply did not want to stay in place. The cabling and brake line feels more cramped now behind the headlight unit.

But the most annoying problem is the tank clearance. For the bar to have enough clearance, I had to rotate the brake fluid line (the one coming out of the rectangular reservoir) as it was hitting the triple. I don't know if this is good or not. I will take a pic to show you guys what I'm talking about.

But I like the new feel. Together with the Ottimoto rearset I also changed today, it is feeling like a new bike :P
