No, not that kind of tranny! Get your heads out of the gutter people. :D

When I'm coming to a stop, I try to always downshift as my speed slows. However, sometimes, I lose track of what gear I'm in and when I'm stopped, I'll, on very rare occasion (I'm getting better at not doing this) have to downshift more than one gear. Problem is, when I'm trying to go from 2nd to 1st while stopped, the bike doesn't always want to go into first and I have to sort of rock the bike back and forth to get it to go down.

Normal or is something amiss with my transmission?

Normal. Lots of threads have discussed this already. What I do is either count the gears as I downshift, or if I forget or lose track, keep shifting down until I can't anymore BEFORE I stop. I'm usually in first at around 15 mph.

+1. Work on never finding yourself in this situation. Every time you're slowing down, start clicking down. No need to count.. once you get to below 15 or so, just keep clicking until the lever no longer moves down.. which lets you know you're in 1st.
Otherwise, it's normal for the bike to not want to shift when you're stopped.

This is normal and here is the technical WHY explanation. In short the gears don't go in at a stop as they physically can't fit the peg in the hole until the gears rotate a small amount.

I'm stealing a picture here; but see the gears here (bottom of pic, last two gears); the clutch dogs must fit into the recess in the opposing gear to lock it in. When you're stopped and the clutch is disengaged, sometimes the cogs rest right on the ridge separating the recess thus it will not drop into gear until you A) roll the bike moving the output shaft, B) release the clutch moving the input shaft.

Make sense?

Mine does it too. I got mine less than a month ago and I already got used to it. It still happens once in a while.. All I do is let go of the clutch a bit until I hear it engaging then shift no problems.. Good luck, enjoy your FZ.
