    Removing Bar Risers

+1 on checking the bolt length. We moved a set of bar risers from my son's FZ1 when he bought that over to my wife's FZ1. I seem to recall that when we were putting his bike back to OEM that the bolts were too long, so we had to swap those also.

Mila Javovich Moto fail on a brand new BMW

They should have put the cylinder head protectors or crash bars on it before they let her take it. Good idea on any boxer powered bike, even if you are experienced.

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

I know running off the road is always a possibility but I'd much rather not do it at all on public roads (or anywhere else), but if I'm going to ride fast enough where the risk of it happening goes up significantly...well that is what the track is for. I asked Lytehouse to post this up to get...

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

I agree 100%. Just trying to keep it a little light-hearted as I post and ride to have fun. I appreciate all the advice, and since you don't know me, I understand you are just looking out for your fellow rider. In my case, pushing the limit on public roads is something no one should ever do...

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

Guard rails? What are guard rails? Most of the mountain roads we ride don't have guard rails because the snowplows push the snow over the edge in the winter (or spring for the roads that close over the winter). As far as drop-off's, one of my favorite roads hugs the north rim of the Black...

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

The conversation has come up more than you may think. Well, not the trailing part.

    Advice wanted on The Dragon

LOL regder, I'm sure some of the guys back east would say you are selling the riding out there short. Since we were going to TN anyway to see Lytehouse's brothers, trailering the bikes instead of flying sounded like a good idea. We pretty much spend May through October riding the CO mountains...

Ayrton Senna edition 1199 S Panigale

I knew Senna had ties with Ducati and/or the head of Ducati, but had to Google this. "Ducati had a strong relationship with Senna, who last visited their factory just a few weeks before his fatal race in Imola, Italy. Back in 1995, Ducati offered a special-edition version of the 916SP, which...

    bike to bike communication

I just bought the dual pack of the Sena SMH10's for $259 (plus shipping) back in March for Lytehouse and myself. This vendor seems to be one of the go to places for Sena's on the advrider.com and bmwst.com web sites. Rocket Moto Their website is under construction so I don't know what the...

    Corbin comparisons

Thanks a bunch Jman, now I can put a big check-mark next to the "Better FZ6 Seat" on Brenda's Christmas list. I was considering trying a custom builder I've used in the past, but was wondering how I was going to send off her seat pan without her noticing. :D

    Hardest technique to master?

While she may also be a MSF instructor, I believe most of the folks responding are wanting to take advantage of her advice because she is an instructor at the California Superbike School, and can speak to questions around technique from beginner to expert. In fact I heard she taught Valentino...

    Scorpion exo-400 vs. Exo-700

The graphics available are different, so that might be as good a reason as any to base your choice on (assuming Scorpions are the right fit). Well, that and price, I've seen some good closeouts on discontinued graphics from various online vendors from time to time. I have a Exo700...

    Keystone, CO conference

Lytehouse always exceeds 60 mpg on the FZ6, and twins seem to do a little better. Even with the 200cc bump, I figure she should see mid 60's on the 800 and would not be surprised if she approached 70 mpg (she's not real heavy on the throttle...sorry hun). It does seem like a lot when I think I...

    Keystone, CO conference

Yup, I was with her Steph. I did a bunch of demo rides in the same groups as Brenda, plus some additional when she was attending seminars, so I can give some good, "IMO" reviews, on bikes she didn't ride, like the V-Max, FJR1300, Ducati Streetfighter, Buell 1125R, plus a bunch of BMW's. I could...

    early planning 2010 trip

Hmmm, any particular reason you are sticking to the Interstates? If you are looking for some fun roads I'd include: Colorado 550, between Ouray and Durango, aka as the Million Dollar Hwy Utah 12 through Escalante National Monument Beartooth Pass (Hwy 212) as you head east out of the the...
