    17T Sprocket vibes?

The chain slack varies ever so slightly, but isn't this normal for chains? After all when adjusting chain slack it is practice to ensure measurements are taken from the tightest part of the chain to the swingarm. I contemplated if the 17T sprocket was defective, but figured that if that was the...

    17T Sprocket vibes?

Hi guys, I just installed a JT 17-tooth front sprocket (what blasphemy) in hopes of lowering my RPMs on the highway as that's where I'm mainly on. Everything's real kosher, but my FZ seems to have developed a weird vibe. In 4th gear, travelling between 65-75 km/h, the bike develops a...

Cleaning silver aluminium frame in '04 FZ6

Finally got down to trying the stuff you recommended FZSexy. It indeed cleaned up the alumninium frame nicely, and the process is just as you described. Just gotta scrub it up. However, it did not work as well on the stator covers and the cover over the front sprocket. Despite repeated...

Cleaning silver aluminium frame in '04 FZ6

Alright, will give that a shot and report back with results! I didn't think of using metal polish as I thought that the frame might be covered in some sort of clear coat/paint that won't react too kindly to metal polish.

Cleaning silver aluminium frame in '04 FZ6

So a while back ago my top gasket starting leaning and engine oil got onto the frame. As a result, there is some staining on the aluminium frame now. Beyond being oily, it seems to have etched and stained the frame and the engine covers. Just wondering if you guys know how to clean it up...

Bi-Xenon projector with angel eye installed

Hi guys, just thought I'd reply my own post. I found that rubber feet used for furniture can serve as a filler. I cut a cross into a circular rubber feet, and ran the wires through it. The rubber boot then goes over the rubber feet, and everything's snug. Water doesn't seem to be able to get in...

Bi-Xenon projector with angel eye installed

Guys, Great sharing all round, and your experiences helped make mine a painless one! Loving the mod. Just a tiny problem. How do you guys weather seal the set up? I have many wires coming out of the weather boot and it isn't weather sealed at all. I worry water will enter when it rains or when...

    Higher steady RPMs ok?

Lol sorry to revive a dead thread but I've something to add. I usually ride at below 6k RPMs, and get approx 17km/L. However, my mechanic once told me that it is good to ride at higher RPMs occasionally, if only to clear the engine up (i can't really remember what he said exactly). Perhaps it...

Shinko 011s - just put 'em on!

So, had the tyres on for 9,000 km now. Here're the pictures: As you can see, the rear tyre is beginning to develop a flat spot down the centre. However, on the whole, the grooves still appear deep and the tyres seem like they have quite a long way to go. The flat spots are probably due to...

Throttle Body Sync - Jumping vacuum gauges?

So... I messed up trying to get by throttle body synced by adjusting screw #1. Thus, I went to get a vacuum gauge hoping to fix it. However, when I try to get a reading, the needle on the gauge swings wildly. This is even with FOUR Dorman restrictors attached. So it swings from ~5 in Hg to...

Shinko 011s - just put 'em on!

Okay so I've ridden the tyres for about 800km now, with a mix of wet and dry riding. In the dry, the tyres work beautifully. They stick to the ground, and never had a moment of fear. In the wet, on asphalt roads, they were a little slippery and I think I know why. If you look at the thread...

Clutch Slave Levers - I'm making them again

You might want to try Partszilla - I ordered mine earlier in the month and they were backordered, but has thus fulfilled the order. They might have some leftover stock from their order from Yamaha. In any event, the parts took less than week to arrive at Partszilla from when I place my order...

    how to change coolant?

Hi guys, Any idea what the part number is for the coolant overflow tank breather tube? It's the one that allows any excess coolant to drain from the overflow tank onto the ground if the levels get too high. The black rubber grommet is disintegrating on mine.
