For the love of pete, STOP RIDING ON BALD TIRES! If you can see the cords through the tread, then you have NO TREAD LEFT!
Look, tires are the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT safety feature we have on our bikes. The four square inches of contact patch on each tire is all that connects us, to the road...
That's funny.... I JUST drove that stretch of road last Wednesday.... I was in Fayetteville and had to get to Nitro, but had no cash for the toll road, so I took the midland trail..... WOW! What a road. From US19 to Hawksnest is AWESOME and has become a must ride road for me!
Good luck and enjoy the bike....
The only thing that has kept me out of a BMW show room is the maintenance costs on the bikes... Some models, it's not unheard of to shell out $1200 every 10k for maintenance..... Hopefully yours isn't one of those!
Ride safe!
You really can't go wrong with any of those choices, but what you end up with really depends on how you like to ride and what you expect from a bike.
The FZ6 will provide the most wind protection and the most compliant highway ride of the three. It is also the most powerful of the bunch...
I average between 47 and 54mpg, it just depends on how brisk I am with the throttle. If I really baby it and keep the engine to between 4000 and 5000rpm, I see low to mid 50mpg on a regular basis.
It's nice knowing my bike gets better fuel economy that a Prius.... And cost about 1/5th as...
True story. I know, because I was there!
Let me begin by admitting the obvious. I, am a dead man! If I'm lucky, my wife will just kill me quickly. If not, she's going to make me suffer for a LONG time before letting me finally die... (I'm thinking death by 10,000 knitting needle pokes).
It...
Don't worry.... As long as the bike has been properly maintained (regular oil changes, spark plug replacements, air filter replacements, etc) then there's no reason to think the engine is not up to the task. Being an air cooled motor, it is actually more benficial to RUN the bike than let it...
Just a heads up. If anyone is in need of tires for their bike, Bike Bandit has several brands on close out, including the Metzler Roadtec Z6. I just ordered up both front and rear tires for $257.00 delivered.
I just found the same thing out myself this morning. It was one of my better OCD moments. I had the plate sitting on my workbench and I looked at the top case and said... "I wonder"..... Viola! It fits perfectly!!!
While it is not Givi quality, it will fit on the Givi 351 rack and adapter...
I got mine too. It is just as others have said. Plain, but functional.
I already have the Givi topcase rack system on the bike. All I had to do is remove the Givi plate, install the new plate and mount the trunk. For $50.00, it will do just fine for what I need....
I've done both... First, I got a cruiser. Big mistake. It's like going from a thoroughbred to a lame mule. Seriously. The FZ6 is light and has crisp, predictable handling. The cruiser is an unwieldy piece of farm equipment with marginal brakes.
That left the front sprocket. I added one...
I have two (three if you count me!). My daughter is 12 and my son is 10. They've been our riding buddies ever since they learned to ride a two wheeler on their own.... Many miles of smiles with them....
+1. The ECU is not sophisticated enough to detect and then compensate for the additional air flow. Without additional fuel (from a fuel processor), you will actually lose power vs. the stock filter....
