Random Misfire - Possible Ignition Coil?

Great tip! I will try that along with Motogiro's suggestion of the kill switch. I have already removed the clutch safety switch as it broke a few thousand miles ago. The connector has a small jumper wire inside it which eliminates the clutch safety switch. Thanks for everyone's help! It's...

Random Misfire - Possible Ignition Coil?

I'm going to try that. It's very annoying to get to the spark plug wires due to their location on this bike, but I seem to get better at putting the airbox on each time I take the bike apart! I will check the insulation for any cracks or scrapes which would cause arcing. What gets me is it...

Random Misfire - Possible Ignition Coil?

Recently, my 2005 FZ6 has developed a random misfire at random times. I thought it was due to the cheap Autolite spark plugs I installed on the bike about 2k miles ago, but have since replaced them with the correct NGK CR9EK plugs. The misfire is still occurring at random times whether the...

What Do You Do At Stoplights??

I keep the bike in gear until I see a car or two behind me. Also, if I'm the first one to go through the green light after it changes, I wait a few seconds for those idiots who blow through the light even after it's red, this saved my butt more than a few times!

The life of the working man rider

Trying to ride my FZ6 as much as possible but since we're not in hurricane season here in FL, the weather has been rather unpredictable and rainy. However, I did ride my FZ to work today and she wasn't running quite right. It seems there's a deadspot from idle to 1/8th throttle, feels like a...

    Cheap Brake/clutch levers

Yes, wild huh? Everyday they get more golden-colored. I've emailed moto-777 to determine a solution. My adjusters were originally red, I painted them silver to match my bike better.

Helmet Mod - Reflective Tape, 3M 1/4 Inch

Kudos to sxty8goats for this awesome idea! I will be purchasing this tape to install on my helmet. I do a fair amount of night riding, anything to increase visibility is a good mod in my book!

    Cheap Brake/clutch levers

I've been running the moto777 short levers for about 2 months now. Has anyone else's turned bronze/gold? My levers started off black, but now they're bronze and becoming lighter by the day. I'm thinking it has something to do with UV exposure.

    Common sense or best practice?

Also, when lifitng and securing the fuel tank, keep a pan or cup (not plastic) underneath the fuel tank vents if the tank is 3/4 full or more. You will have some fuel come through the fuel tank vents and you certainly don't want it on your garage floor or driveway! Good tips CCHOUSEKY!

Should I paint the side covers?

Geoff, from what I can see in the picture, I would paint the front fender and the side covers silver to match the rest of the bike. I'm personally prefer silver over black anyway. After owning a black car for a few years, I vowed to never live through that washing/waxing/paint scratch...

    Stebel Air horn fitment

When I had a Stebel installed on my FZ6, I modified the original horn bracket to mount the Stebel horn above the front fender. This worked well unless the front end was compressed heavily such as when travelling over railroad tracks or speed bumps. Needless to say, the Stebel didn't last very...

    brake drag

It's always a good idea to pay special attention to the operation of your brakes. I had a front caliper on my SV650 partially seize while I was riding. I let go of the brake handle, but it felt like the brakes were still being applied. I was able to use the onboard tool kit to loosen the...

Bike won't start after battery charge

My battery unexpectidly dide a few months ago. I rode my bike to work, started fine. Parked it in my office parking lot, came out for lunch to go for a ride, nothing happened when pressing the start button. Turns out one of the cells inside the battery had broken causing the voltage to drop...

    blue smoke

One thing I would like to mention (because I experience it myself) is usually owhen warming the bike up in the morning for the first time, you will see some white smoke coming from the exhaust after the engine has run for a few seconds. When I first saw this I was concerned, but then read on...

My New Ingenious Sat Nav Mount

Looks good! Certainly a nice mount for the '08! For my '05, I purchased a handlebar mount for my Garmin off eBay. I'm still working on a way to keep the GPS attached to bike if it should try to disconnect from the mount. Nice job Sangar!
