The timing could possibly have slipped if you have been messing with something you shouldn't. I'm not familiar with that engine, but i would check that the timing marks (if any) on the cams match up.

Sounds like a faulty starter motor to me, especially as it works when you try to bump it.

Any chance you can post a video with the engine noise on it?
