soo i was thinking.. while looking at current yamaha bike prices, and factoring in the 2014 fz-09, the current honda 500cc and some other smaller displacment bikes.. it leads me to believe that we ill see a resurgence in smaller displacement bikes.. some math below:

2014 FZ-09 $7,990
2013 FZ6R $7,890 (which makes no sense when up against the FZ-09)
2013 R6 $11,100

2013 CBR500 $5,999
2013 CBR250R $4,100

i can somehow see a RD400 or RD350 from Yamaha coming out to fill the 4-5k range.. possibly in the 4700 starting range. i would think a 350-400cc FZ type bike in the States and Canada would do extremely well!!! not to mention how it would do in rest of the world!! :thumbup:

they need to make 400cc bikes for those beginners that need to use the highway. Honda's CB400 four (not in the states) is a fantastic bike, and one of our members has one. but Honda (the worst marketing staff in the industry) wont bring them here.

Exactly why Kawi made the Ninja 300... Ninja 250 on roids. I agree more companies should make mid range beginner commuters

I've been thinking of picking up a project Ninja 250 for a commuter. I learned on one and I kinda miss the tiny size and 80 mpg.

they are also being influenced by new European licence requirements and restrictions, hence there's more lower capacity bikes available

I've been thinking of picking up a project Ninja 250 for a commuter. I learned on one and I kinda miss the tiny size and 80 mpg.

I'm so happy I didn't sale my first bike.:cheer:

I could never replace it for the $1k that I paid for it all most new.:thumbup:

I look at the 70mpg as a saving account.:BLAA:

that's the thing. if you could get a sub $5k bike that is also getting 50-60mpg+... make sure that its not screaming at highway speeds.. people will eat them up!!!

for some its adequate, but I rode a 250 ninja once.....hated it. wouldnt get out of its own way, I know the new ones are quicker, but with bikes, you need to be able to get out of the way.

My little Bro used to have a Honda 400cc baby blade. It had amazing performance and good for 140 mph.
There is definitely a place for them smaller displacement machines especially with fuel and insurance costs on the increase.
