In about 2 months I'm taking a 3000 mile trip. I'll start in St. Louis and travel to Atlanta. My brother lives there so I'll stay a couple days with him and his fam. Then I'll head to Sarasota, FL where my Dad lives and stay a few days with him and the stepmom. My girlfriend, who unfortunately won't ride the bike, will fly down and meet me in FL for a few days so we can both have a good vacation together.

Then the real adventure begins. I'm planning on heading across Florida and going up the coast a bit. I have camping equipment that I bought, although I haven't really camped for years. So it'll definitely be different from my normal stays in hotels...lol. The plan so far is to camp somewhere around Jacksonville, FL, then somewhere on the coast of SC, then in the Virginia Beach area, then somewhere in WV, then in IN, then back to St. Louis.

If anyone has any great places to camp along that route, I'd love to hear about it. Also if anyone has any good scenic areas that you think I should check out, please let me know. I think I'm going to be able to do 1 good trip a year, so I want to see some great areas along the way. Thanks!

Not familiar with camping along your route, but state and national parks are always a good place to look. They are usually quite a bit cheaper than the privately owned camp grounds, and in my experience often have better scenery and privacy.

Depending on the specific date Madison Indiana has Clifty Falls state park. I could throw in some cold ones and some BBQ.

If you are not in a hurry and you want to be on roads worthy of a motorcycle instead of the interstate I would highly recommend this route. It makes the dragon look like the squid/cruiser tourist trap that it is..

Harrisonburg, VA to Charleston, WV - Google Maps

If you have plenty of time, then this is the ultimate motorcycle trip if you are good in the curves. This will give you so much scenery and curves and so little traffic, you will be in heaven.

If you want to see just how damn good this route is, enable 3d view and let it "play"drive the route for you. Once it hits WV you will see what I am talking about.

Here is a small clip of a section the road i directed you to. remember this is zoomed way out so you are still not seeing half the curves on the 200+ miles this route will take you. I higly recommend that you play it full sreen to see the roads.

Highly recommend as a biker friendly place to stay, low cost, high on clean and personality. Great view, fun stuff nearby. I notice it is along your route. It'd be a good place to lay your head.

Holy crap those are some amazing roads out there! I do have an extra day to play with so I was planning on doing some real riding somewhere along my route. By no means am I good in the curves, however I love the scenic routes and take my time with them. I was planning on spending one of my extra days at the cost, but it looks like I'll be spending it in West Virginia!

I have a lot of business on the Coast of SC, NC and VA and I can tell you, while the beach is nice the riding is SUPER BORING along the east coast, flat as a pancake, not a lot of scenery.

You could easily make this route to include the Tail of the Dragon region and the Blue Ridge parkway in NC (Including Mount Mitchell which is the tallest Mt. on the east coast). The Scenery along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC is some of the best east of the Mississippi river! Would be a shame for you to miss that to ride along the boring coast!

Point E on this map is the Tail of the Dragon St Louis, MO to St Louis, MO - Google Maps:

Point F is Mt. Mitchell and some of the beast scenery you will see in the Appalachian Mountains.

Be careful, you will have fun.

Must be nice to be able to take that big of a trip on your bike, I am jealous.
