Are they pod lights?

Looking at pictures here, I've seen a few bikes with lights in the upper corner of the headlight housing. Are they generally called pod lights? It seems like there is something that should have gone there but might require some drilling to get to it. I'm wanting to just put a cluster of bright LEDs up there and incorporate them with the turn signals. How are they usually added?

Yes they are called podlights. You can buy the sockets made for the R1, then just drill the holes. I wired mine into the turn signals to act as both running lights and additional turn signals, but they flash alternatively with the turn signals.

Boneman has a great website dedicated to all the mods he's done to his '05 FZ6, including the pod lights. He took it one step further and installed a hidden switch so he could turn them on and off (his pod light are blue and he once got a ticket for having blue lights).

so it's just a blue led bulb to replace the stock one to get the blue color pod lights?

If you already have them wired up. Go to http://superbrightleds.com/specs/T13_specs.htm and check out the available bulbs.

From what i can gather... Only in Europe.

Nope, you have to buy the R1 light sockets, LED bulbs and do some drilling and wiring.

But yes, I believe some European model FZ6s come with POD lights stock.
