I have posted elsewhere about my recent experience with this. The purpose of this post is a warning to everyone:

Check your front sprocket nut regularly. Make sure it is on tight and the lockwasher is sat in it's correct place. There is a known issue with this item. It affects pre-07 fazers and R6's with the same nut. They are known to fail. Mine failed at 16,000 miles. It just lost drive but it could have been a lot worse if the chain had snagged. Every professional I spoke to about this was aware of it and all had FZ6 and R6 owners come to them with the same problem.

Be aware and stay safe. Over and out

Thank you for this warning! I'm wondering if there's a slot on the shaft for a tab to key into. Have to realize there is a tremendous amount of torque there but it still shouldn't be an issue because other bikes don't fail there. No doubt this should be a recall.
Thanks Again!
Cliff
