Trouble-shooting can sometime be challenging but if you trust the things that don't normally go bad then you have to first look at the consumables. Lights are consumables and whether it's new out of the package or had 1000 hours on it don't be quick to think it's okay. The bulb is an easy thing to check so why not..... If you can't see that the filament is messed, then an ohm meter across the bulb tabs helps too.
