How much did you $spend on your fz6? $7200

I am about to buy new 2006 model from dealer in Canada for 6800 + 13% tax.
it's last one, rest are 2008 models for about 8900. I hope I am not making mistake.

I am also looking at buying an 2008 FZ6, and couple of guys on this forum told me that they got an 08 for around USD 7k OTD. Given that Canadian $ is trading at par with USD (or better these days), I was wondering that maybe you could get an 08 from a dealer in US and take it to Canada. 2008 has some improvements over 06 that may make it worth it and it would cost you about the same. I guess the prices in Canada are based on historical exchange rates and dealers/manufacturers can't drop the prices coz that would make 08s cheaper than 07s.
You probably want to find out if there are any import restrictions though. I do wouldn't expect any.

After all this talk of how much an FZ6 is in Canada I'm thinking of buying a couple just to sell them in the great white north. That's easy money......

$7600 a couple of weeks ago for my new '07. That's $6100 base plus tax and stuff. I was told by a friend that there is no real negotiation with bikes as with new cars. What's your experience been?

I got my blue 07 in April of 07 from a dealer in north carolina for about 7200 after taxes and fees, but i convinced them to throw in an alliance battlecry helmet with it to make myself feel a little better :)

$6600 OTD, but also got a nice trade in on my '06 Ninja 500 at 3200, so I had to pay 3400 and 5% tax on the 3400. This is for an '08 that I got last Friday.

Anybody with an out the door price for an '08 yet? Best quote I got was $7250, but that's a 3 hr drive from here. The rest were in the $8000 range. That includes tax/tags, etc.

$6500 otd last month for my new 07 red FZ6. I asked them to match the Out The Door Motorsports price and they did without hesitation.

I stopped in at the yammy store just looking around, and saw the new 08 fz6, i told the guy what i paid for mine, 7k with helmet out the door, he told me with a factory discount he could sell me a new one for 6k. infrickencredible.

Sorry that I didn't specify, cobalt blue 2008 which they had to BUY from another dealer $6600 OTD (all fees except tax), $3200 trade in and tax paid on $2980. So, I had to add $3400.

:confused:dankatz sorry, but your numbers don't add up. OTD $6600 - $3200 trade = $3400 so you would have paid tax on $3400 not $2980 or $3570 out of pocket. ( 5% sales tax in Ma.)

I'm new here.. will post some pics of my bike later hopefully. Anyway, I got a steal on my bike. I picked up an 06 FZ6 last august with 414 miles on it for $4000 flat, which included a helmet, leather coat, tax, title, and registration! HOW THE??? you may ask.... The motorsports store was going out of business and they had this and two 4wheelers left... they took my offer!!

Rock out...

New '08 for $6418 OTD. I pick it up next week!
I can't get a deal anywhere close to that here in Pennsylvania. Best I could find was a dealer who would charge me $6400, but with tax title and all fees the price wound up being $7250 OTD. Be grateful for your 0% New Hampshire sales tax. It's 6% in PA which they'll hit you with even if you buy a vehicle out of state. So that adds $400 up front.

The dealer that offered me $7200 is also about a 3 hr drive away, so i've been trying to haggle with local dealers to get them down into that range. Without much luck I'm afraid.

Picked up mine last Friday. Brand new (0 Miles!) 2007 FZ6. After two weeks of negotiations got it for $5724.50. With TTL (out the door) $6175.22. I really like the RED. The 2008 only offers the Cobalt Blue as a new color. So, I opted for the 2007, plus I thought I would be able to get a better deal on previous model year.

Day 1, I was quoted $6399 + TTL on the phone. I went to the dealer and showed them I was a serious buyer and will pay a $100 deposit to hold the bike (it's still snowing here in MN, so I couldn't drive it home that week). They offered $5999 + TTL. A few days later, I called them and said I would be paying cash out the door... they dropped it to $5799 + TTL. When I picked it up.. I got them to drop it another $70 to the final price of $5724.50 + TTL.

The Sales Manager really pushed the extended warranties, extra tire warranty, and service PPM as add on purchases. She tried for no less than 30 minutes trying to convince me into those extra services. It got a little heated while we argued the merits of the protection plan. In the end she pulled the "okay fine then you have sign this piece of paper saying you don't want anything beyond factory warranty and won't hold us liable in case of any problems". What?! So what idiot would sue the Yamaha dealer they didn't sell them the 3 year warranty plan for an extra $900+? Funny.. so, I walked out with the my bottom line price without the extra add ons.. As the Service Dept was preping my bike I asked if they give out anything for new customers and they handed me a $20 GC off my first service! Nice.. saves on the 600 miles, $170 service that is required!

As a first time street bike buyer, just wondering how much we all spent for the same bike around the country! Bought mine in Las Vegas in April '07 for an '06 model, paying $7200 out the door. This included 7.75 sales tax and additional fees pertaining to title, etc.

For a new 08 Raven FZ6 I was quoted 6600$$ before tax and reg. Now I think that is ok. Thoughts??

Great job! Welcome to the forum by the way. You also get one more crack at the dealership. It is customary for Yamaha to send you a survey for you to fill out regarding your buying experience at that particular dealership. A bad review will hurt them down the road, expecially if you give them specifics with names.
