I have the SENA bluetooth headset in my helmet and the sound with earplugs is SOO clear. Leaps and bounds better than any ear buds I tried. Really enjoy it. Makes riding solo nice on those long boring stretches..
I did something today that I think I am going to regret....

Just be careful. The first time and last time I rode with music on and up to loud I killed the bike trying to take off, I was then "tapped" by the car behind me. He then got out of his car saying how sorry he was and said his foot slipped off the pedal, but what really happened was I had my music up to loud and couldn't hear the engine and killed it and then he tapped my back tire. (I was also a huge squid at the time) IMO if your going to be in medium to heavy traffic avoid it.
