S2 Crank but no start. Low d09

Bottom line is that on battery during cranking i have 11.5v, and on ecu 10.7v ( d09 ) and coil positive 10.7. The coil positive was measured with battery negative as reference. During cranking I have 0.2v dV at ecu negative compared to battery negative so the coil gets a +0.2v negative trigger at cranking, that's a 10.5V primary winding trigger.

Today after taking the above measurements the engine refused to start. I put 3rd gear, cranked with the clutch lever pulled and the bike started. Same as the day before yesterday where I pushed the bike for a meter with 3rd gear (did not have enough room to push start properly) and cranked again and started ok. This was a suggestion by the second mechanic who suspects the starter motor itself and wanted me to move the crankshaft and related gears a bit. Did not understand why this could work but it seems there is a relationship with the starter which seems to draw more current than nominal anyway. AI says that Chinese brushes often have improper carbon/copper compound, wrong pressure force, sometimes are also undesized resulting in quick wearing and bad contact, explaining what the mechanic has experienced and described. So in order to eliminate this as a root cause my options are
- repair again (this vandalized starter) with a good quality kit
- get a used starter from ebay
- get a Magneti Marelli starter (100€)
- get an Arrowhead starter (195€)
- get a Yamaha/Mitsuba starter (200€)
And hope that the new starter draws 50-55A creating smaller drops, allowing the ecu and coils to work normally IF the problem is electrical and not mechanical (starter, starter clutch related). I am also planning to feed the coils+ directly from battery via a relay and fuse.
Up to now I have measured findings but still not able to say if they actually are causing the problem or not and I am just measuring what every bike has at 100.000kms.

Did you try starting it with THE CLUTCH LEVER PULLED IN?

Neutral, in gear, doesn't matter... Just ^^ what happens..

.
Yes, on today's attempt I had the bike on central stand, 3rd gear and clutch lever pulled (otherwise the cutoff relay blocks the starter relay). I was slightly uphill with limited room so no ability to push, just tried with 3rd to move the rear wheel by hand, not possible, so I cranked and it worked). Seconds ago with neutral and no clutch lever pulled refused to start. Priming was always heard on every failed attempt.

Sorry, my English is not that good, the bike does crank no matter if I pull the clutch lever or not, while being in neutral. When being in gear it cranks only when the lever is pulled. I have tested the clutch lever switch with the multimeter and it's ok. Today after refusing to start while cranking, it started just after i got it in gear and the lever pulled.

Sounds like that switch (clutch lever) may not be working correctly all the time.

Can you make a jumper and either connect them (or disconnect) . I don't know if it's an open or closed switch...

Then try starting... If not in that switch, perhaps the safety "unit" beginning to fail.
Sounds like it MAY be killing spark....

Dunno if that's been explored yet...

.

Forgot to mention that i got error 12 again today. And I could not delete it, d61 was showing 00, d62 showing 1 which could not be deleted with the run switch. When the bike finally started the error went away.
