How do you remove needle bearings from a swing arm?

Do I need a hydraulic press for installing new bearings or can I use a threaded press?

Thanks

assumming they are drawn cup needle bearings, to install them, you will need a special tool. Due to how they are made, one end is hardened and the other is soft (so they can close in the cup after the needles are installed at manufacture). You only want to push on the hardened end and with a special profiled tool. Anyway, you are best taking the swingarm to a dealer to have the new ones installed. Make sure he has the proper factory tool for doing so.

Excellent analysis! Removal and installation of thin wall bearings are tricky tasks to do correctly.
