Howdy,
I have a 2006 FZ6 i just replaced the clutch cable on. It was working fine before, started it after and gave it a few little revs (3-4K) then went inside to grab gear. I came out to find it not running. Tried to restart it and would barely start on full throttle for a sec and now wont start at all. I feel like i have been down the list and checked all the possible problems and can not figure it out for the life of me. It seems like a fueling problem but can not locate a source. Checked connections, no codes given but ran through diagnostic mode and all values within expectation, saw spitz of gas firing in ITBs (seemed like a small amount, wondering what others look like), has spark, checked fuel pressure (~42 when priming, holds at ~34), looked at fuel filter, fresh gas.
Is that too low of fuel pressure? What do others look like for injector spray volume wise?
Replacing check valve and recleaning injectors tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone had other ideas of what it may be. It will run on starting fluid so I think spark and compression are good.
I appreciate any and all help y’all can give me. I feel like I’m at my wits end with this.

Factory spec is 36.3 for FI pressure.

I gather you pulled off the air filter assembly, did you remove the fuel tank?

In any event, I would go back and look closely at everything you touched, un-plugged, may have bumped.
Check any plugs and make sure none are bent/ bad connections.

.

Yeah, I’m thinking pinched fuel line or vent line. Is the fuel cap hard to open…and do you get a rush of air when it does open? If that happens, the bike should start right up.

There was a member just last week that had a non-running bike due to a vent line that was not properly reinstalled. Worth checking.

+1 ^^.

With the tank lifted, the vent line and over flow lines, that exit to the right side MUST
be pulled back down. Especially the left one..

**Added info- The tank lines have a white mark near the ends. That passes thru a "smallish guide"
You should be able to see the white lines if the lines are fully extended.

No rush of air or hard to open the fuel cap. All the vent line appear to be reinstalled, is there a specific one (tank, air box, or ITB breathers) that is more likely to cause it?

Replaced the fuel check valve this morning and still doesn’t run. I’ve been through any connections I touched plus some, even got contact cleaner to make sure they were making a good connection and no joy.

See Scott's reply (#4)

Found both of them and extended as far down as they could, still didn’t help. They didn’t appear pinched either. Is it more likely clogged injectors or a bad ecm? (Injector cleaning kit hasn’t been delivered yet)

If it'll run on starting fluid the issue is very likely a fueling problem.

Just for S & G's, check the throttle position sensor (TPS) thru the dash.
It should be roughly 15 closed throttle, 100 @WOT. Just a shot in the dark..

Re-reading your first post, I think you did this. There shouldn't be any skipping of #'s.

Yea it was a little high at 16 or 17 and WOT 101 but I don’t think that would be the problem

Well, if the ECU has lost the ability to communicate you will not receive any codes. Do you have a steady red light on the instrument cluster?
No lights/codes on the display, can get it to kinda start/idle but sounds like it’s starving for fuel. Tried spraying out the injectors and seem to get a good stream.
