Wolfman goes bush...Part 5! The River Murray, close-up...

awesome...wouldn't be nice if we all could find keepers!

I get keepers all the time. When I go out in my Kayak, fishing..

When you start looking at yaks, give us a buzz. I'm carrying a fair bit of yak knowledge round in my head these days:cheer:.

No wukkas mate:thumbup:. I've got three myself...lol. Can be anything you want. Relaxing, exhilarating or just chugging away on a long haul, but they are always good exercise....Even when I'm sailing my Outback I like to pedal and see how fast I can go...lol....Hmmm....Motorbikes, cars and trying to skim my kayak....you know, I think I might be a hoon:eek::cheer::rockon::rockon:....LMAO

Oh! and the Outback has cup holders for your beer.
:hijack::D

There is no feeling like catching fish from a yak....especially bigguns:thumbup:.

Yup...Pedals:thumbup:...and a sail.

http://www.hobiecat.com.au/kayaking/index.html

If it's only occasional then Something cheaper may be in order.

Wet ride but fairly stable and a very good yak to paddle....The perception Swing...

http://www.malibukayaks.com/

What am I thinking....Nearly every yak ever invented is in the AKFF Wiki....

http://www.akff.net/wiki/index.php?title=Which_Kayak_for_Me

You can also sometimes pick up good deals on second hand yaks on AKFF.

Some have fishfinders etc. thrown in so you don't have to set it up your self.

:D

Oh Gosh....so much info, so much to think about! Thanks Mike...i think!

Yeah but im pretty sure there are laws regarding what you "know" about Yak's  :spank: :ban: :D

Nope....I think there is a loophole on imported species:eek:...lol.:Flip::spank::ban:

When you want to go for a look see Jamie check Adelaide canoe works on Daws road. They also hire them. Too much choice nowadays. Sot or Sik ( Sit on top Or Sit In Kayak. Plastic or Fiberglass. Blah Blah Blah.

Check out Binks Marine at Somerton Park (closest) and talk to Shane. He's a 'real' dude and won't mess you around too much. Try before you buy is a definite option here.

It definitely depends what you want them for tough.

I like the Hobies as you can sail, paddle or pedal. They are fairly pricey though. Then you look at payload, fishing setups, camping....all the above. There's a pile of choice now which can make it all a little overwhelming.

Then there's places to go. The Coorong is good, until the water is completely gone.:(

The Glenelg river from the Grampians down to Nelson on the coast has canoe camps and all sorts. Some of these sites are only accessible via canoe/kayak so the peace and serenity are untainted.

Wherever you go, try to go for a decent test paddle. If they say no, then go somewhere else. It's the only way to know if the Yak fits you.

Always happy to tag along and help you choose.
Cheers
Mike

Just don't hang a towel over the side, you may get unwanted visitors during the fishing relaxation :spank: :rof:

Good to see you back Mikey, been a bit quiet lately??

:)

Nah....I'm just shy...lol..Nah, really:D.

I've been really busy lately and running on 2.5 hours sleep a night for around 10 days. Was going to have a sleep in this morning but got a call from a mate from work. Could I help him out by checking out and riding back to his place his new 05 CBR600 RR (pirate bike...argh argh argh). Noice. Suspenders are great, balance is great but riding position is a little "on top" for my liking.

All in all a very well maintained bike and quite nippy too. My mate weighs in at high 50kg's so this bike is going to be awesome under his butt.

I'll be definitely trying to help him take it easy for a while. You can't phone up a statistic to go for a ride with you, if you know what I mean.

So I only had 3.5 hours sleep last night.

well it's that time if the week again, time for me to head into the dust that is our countryside in SA, and make my weekly trek to the riverland! I think I am up to part 7 in this "series" now...

This time I have researched a route that takes in a few more bike riding friendly roads on the way, might take me a little longer, but my tires will be much better looked after, and less likely to run the risk of getting squared off from long runs on very straight roads...and me from getting so bored that I lose focus!

When I get there this time, won't be doing much touring, as I am going horse riding close to where I am staying, which will be fun, love getting on a horse and letting it have it's head, and go for a bit of a gallop!

Still, these weekly trips areaveraging out at about 750km's each time, so the bike is getting a bit of a workout and I seem to be getting improved upper body strength.

Will try and get some decent photos of SA's outback from the back of the horse...as per usual, will post for our international friends to see.

Dude! What are you thinking? A horse has a brain of it's own. Like sitting on a cager...lol.

Have fun mate...lol.

Cheers
