WSBK - Moscow: Andrea Antonelli RIP

Go Eleven Kawasaki rider Andrea Antonelli has been killed in an accident on the opening lap of the World Supersport Championship race at the Moscow Raceway.

The Italian fell on the long back straight of the Russian circuit in treacherously rainy weather conditions and was struck by the unsighted Lorenzo Zanetti in the spray.

Immediately tended to by medical staff at the circuit, it has been confirmed that Antonelli sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Was horrible to watch. Bike racing is a risky and dangerous sport. They thrive on the adrenhalin rush and we will always keep watching. People might want to blame the weather but the same thing happened to Simoncelli in good weather conditions. It's a risk.

There are several things that can go wrong during a race, officiating should definitely be at the bottom of the list. It looked like a deluge, the conditions were appalling. Still can not comprehend why the race wasn't called off. I was watching the race on TV and couldn't discern anything, wonder what those brave lads were seeing through their visors.
For those who do not shy away from riding in the rain, where would you place visibility on the risk scale ? The spray was un-fricking real.
