An 1125R for $2500??? Should I do it???

It is a great bike Pete,
If it were me I would only do it if you got the job your after. For a lot of people a motorcycle is a luxury item. Of course you may have a new market as people try to save their cash and down scale to two wheels.
Everyone is feeling the pinch and your FZ6 may need to go for less than you think, as may your MODS. If you get the price you want from a dealer I would trade it in against the new bike.
Just my 2 cents worth, either way good luck with it,

The only Buell i've even sat on was a Blast, and I felt like I was eating my knees. Anyways..i'm jealous on the insurance. I went through state farm since thats who I have auto for, and i'm paying something like $1500/yr thru july..then it'll go down to about 300/yr (i'm 24 now, goes down to like 30 bucks a month or so when I turn 25 in Jul). However, like others have said, if'n its what you want, GO FOR IT!
a GUY I WORKED WITH HAS that same bike 1125r.and we raced allmost daily due to the fact that it burned him up that my 600cc bike could outrun him.0-60 races deppended on who got the jump,after 60 it was bye bye buell!I top my bike out at 141mph 6ft 215pounds.he topped his out at 137mph 5ft10 205pounds.so it was even.you seem to enjoy speed is the only reason i posted.

I have to say, the 1125R is a awesome bike. The local Harley dealer here has a couple and they are screaming. If you haven't test ridden it yet, make sure that you do before making the purchase. This'll most likely give you a sure fire decision. When I first was trying to decide on getting my XB9SX, I was unsure until they took me out for a ride on it. Before I even got a couple of miles down the road, I was sold. I will tell you though, seeing them take away my FZ6 was a mildly heartbreaking experience. I did get over it though.

Also, if the Harley dealer that you're working with is anything like the one that I have here, they'll definitely work with you. For trade on my '06 FZ6, they gave me close to $5,400 for it, and I cut them a check for $1,500. All this was out the door.

Hummm....that seems odd too me.
Top speed is supposed to be 165 to 170ish. From the You Tube clips I've see 1/4 mile times are about 10.3 to 10.5. Not bad for a 54 inch wheelbase bike. I'm not so much a speed guy but a corner guy. I could be totally happy on a Honda MB50 if the track was to scale for the bike.
So bottom line....drum roll...I sent the silver bullet sabot down range, Armystrong will get that comment.
In the last 2 days, 48 hours, they sold 5 of the 7 bikes. I put a down payment on the second to last one.
I spoke with my local Buell dealer, who has them on sale for $9995, and explained the deal to him. I asked if he could match the OTD price of about $9990 and he said he could not. The best he could do was $11,050. He asked me several questions, who is the dealer, where are they, how many miles on the bike, and a few other. He as genuinely concerned that I wasn't buying a used bike and getting scammed.
Today I spoke with the sales manager, gave him the deposit/earnest money and tomorrow I'll work the details with the salesman. So I guess in a couple of weeks there will be a new bike in the drive.
Oh...mods will be coming up for sale as I plan to sell the bike pretty much stock. The only thing I will not change back are the brake lines.

I live about a mile from Ocala Harley, They had about 8 of the 1125R's last time I was there!
When I spoke with them two days ago it was 7, today was 2! They brought in 30 to blow them out. I don't see how they are making a dime unless they are getting a huge kick back from the factory.
Mine is not to question, mine is to buy!
BTW...they seem like d*cks on the phone. "give me you credit card number...where is this going again...so are you going to arrange shipping or are we going to have to do it" The guys over one Bad Weather Biker said the same thing too about them, d*cks. Is this really the case, or are they just constipated or something?

The only person I have dealt with is Derick great guy, he works the parts department and took care of me when I did my Buell headlight.

I would really, really appreciate that David. One of things I'm asking for is a set of photos, VIN, etc. Today was only a simple 10 minute phone call to place the deposit only. Tomorrow we'll hammer out the details.
If everything is a go I'll PM you to check it out if that is okay?

Im glad your excited about your new bike.the guy I raced wasnt much of a rider.I thought for sure the first time we lined up he was gonna smoke me.so I guess it came down to experiance ,and i dont think you would have any problem gettin the full potential out of your new Buell so I say GO FOR IT!!P.S. Man I have been shopping insurance like a fool and $680 with Geico is the best I can do for the levels of coverage I want. Uninsured motorist and collision are the two most expensive parts of the quote. Collision is $348 and UIM is $136.
Dairyland purchased via Harley was close at $820, otherwise they were about $1,500. That policy is very good in that they provide $5000 in custom part replacement costs, and replacement cost for the bike, not just depreciated value of the bike.
We have lots of new drivers to the US here and they don't have insurance so those of us who do the right thing get hammered on rates. You won't believe what homeowners is either, $1,300 to $1,700 a year.

The FZ1 is quite fast and much more reliable than Buell. I would go for the first generation for a really good ergonomic layout. I would avoid the 06' FZ1 though with EFI related issues.
The first generation FZ1 are going for under $4,200. You get an excellent bike and use the cash difference from the Buell to pay down debt or put into your retirement account.
If you need something faster, go with a slightly used R1.
