This S#!t ain't funny no more!!!

There's no place in the states to run the bike to its limits in the states..

Correction: There is no place in FLORIDA to run a bike to it's limits. Have you ever been on HWY 26 in South Carolina? Nothing but straight stretches of open with no traffic. Lets not even get started about Texas highways! You could do 145mph for 10 miles in some places before you pass another car!

Guess I should have clarified, run the bike to its limits LEGALLY, like the autobon with NO SPEED LIMITS.....

I've been to 145 mph, two up on my FJR (I75 interstate), 133mph on the FZ6 (over a bridge, no side streets, clear view) but of course you never know where a trooper may be sitting..

I'd like to keep my drivers license. Getting caught illegally at those speeds will get you in real hot water, real quick... I'll watch the video and keep my license, thanks... :)

Or just go to a track

At 54 years old, should I go down, I'll break bad . Two decades ago, sure...

"A man's got to know his limits", I know mine...

Ahw the truth comes out!!!! ^^^ But I likely misunderstood, cause it sounds ALLOT like my sons Football jersey number!

Travis, as for the I'm lucky to be here comment - what I've seen is when your numbers up, its up. So far so good although my younger years saw enough close calls I'm a little surprised myself!

I thought there was a rd out in Montana that had no limit? I've also herd that here in ga when driving around Albany going through one of the bases too? I wish there was a open road race that would let bikes enter but I have yet to find one. Something like the silver state classic challenge

I did the Mille Miglia in Italy last year. From some video I watch on Youtube (never been to the Tail of the Dragon yet, will do this summer) It's about the same for about 800 of the 1000 miles. Up and down mountain cliff twisties :BLAA:

Going again in May, can't wait!!!

My close call was at age 19,(9-20-1977) just about cashed my chips in from a cage pullig a left turn in ft of me and my 1975 RD 350.

Yep, that'll show my age. If I wasn't young at that time, I wouldn't be here to harass and show off my header to you!!:D

Its amazing how your rational thinking changes from 16-20ish to just a few yrs later lol The things I thought were good ideas at the time vs looking back, yeah... Kinda leaves you scratching your head! But I can say I got quite a few story's that I will never forget lol

Another one of those "stories" I was 17 an had gone through about 5 cars and trucks already and after getting in trouble in the Willys my dad sold my truck and made me spend the whole summer without a ride. So I got a job, actually working at the place I work now and worked my but off all summer in 110°+ heat with 12-14hr days. But I saved a huge chunk of money and put a down payment on a 01 S10 ZR2, and made a deal with my folks that as long as I was in school they would make payments, but 1st ticket in it and its gone. The truck was pretty sweet, it was a reg cab ZR2 4.3l, 5spd man, 2" body lift, 33" mudders, and a nice Westin brush guard. So being 17 with a truck begging to be taken off road, I couldn wait. So that night me and all my buddies were at the house we always partied at and after a few hrs I said lets go get this thing stuck. There was a neighborhood right around the corner from his house that was recently graded but left unfinished, so we rode straight over there and was just playing around a bit in the mud since it had just rained the day before. It had sat long enough that grass was growing and knee high, but after messing around for a bit I wanted to find something to really "test" the truck. Through most of the place the grass was knee high and about bumper height, so were driving pretty fast though this spot then I notice the grass is at eye level about 50yds up, my buddy said "what's that!?!" I said "I don't know but I'm gonna find out!" So I down shifted an floored it and about the time I was going 45-50ish I hit it! The truck stood straight up, drug the rear bumper then bounce the front end down and every thing shut off. I was freaking out knowing I just totaled the truck I only had for 6hrs, so I got out and looked everything over, the brush guard was pushed in a little, the dash and windshield cracked, disconnected the battery and a few other things. So I go to look at what I hit, its was where they had dug it out for a basement! So it was pretty much a 2' vertical dirt wall!! Luckily with all the rain it was fairly soft and had washed out a bit, but hitting it at 45ish wasn't fun, me and my buddy both had huge bruises on our stomaches the next day where I hit the steering wheel and he hit the dash. The truck surprisingly wasn't too bad considering, but I actually lucked out and got rid of it 2 weeks later. My dad was following me and noticed that the truck wasn't tracking straight and after looking into I more the truck was t boned real bad but fixed under the table, and that's why the airbags didn't go off. We would have never noticed but one of the leaf springs were installed backwards so it was dog trotting. So we took it to the dealer and they bought it back not knowing about the damage themselves an gave me a 01 silverado.

That was a blessing in disguise!

Nope not yet, but the shop just called and said my gasket is in so ill pick it up on my way home from work.

And yes it really was a blessing in disguise because that truck was all jacked up but they hid it with some "flashy" stuff. Once we took a good look at it the right side frame was bent in at least 6"s, the bed on the passenger side was almost touching the cab where on the driver side it was about 4" off the cab an all sorts of other stuff not lined up. But being 17 all I saw was a cool truck at 1st. And probably wouldn't have noticed it was wrecked for a long time but who ever fixed the truck didn't realize that the leaf springs on s10s have to go in the right way. The pin that sits on the axel is offset by 1" and if you put it on backwards the rearend will sit crooked. If it wasn't for that it might have been months before I noticed all the other stuff.

I can't agree more Chevy every day I notice that I thought like a ( for lack of better words) dumbass how did I make it to 22 lol

It's all learning experience what scares me is grown adults who think the way I was thinking when I was 16 how the FAQ

To top everything off I took out a Prius with the vstrom today! But what I think is kinda funny is the bike is fine, the Prius needs a new bumper. That vstrom just won't die!

I hear ya brother, when it rains it pours! It was one of those chain reaction things and I caught the tail end of it with a fresh tire just put on yesterday. Plus I was probably following too close, but I can see why people complain about those clear tail lights though. We put some kick ass led driving lights on his bike and I couldn't see the Prius brake lights until it was too late. But either way...

And those boxes we built for his bike has saved that bike, my legs, his legs, and a lot of plastics many times! Maybe we should have used stainless instead of aluminum though lol

Alright enough is enough, I got it put back together Saturday, rode it for a bit Sunday, rode it to work Monday and Tuesday and up until today everything has been fine... Now 4th, 5th, and 6th gear are no where to be found and its still not charging, I'm done with it. The beater has finally beat me down, but there comes a point you have to realize that when a ride/toy spends more time in the shop than it does being enjoyed, it is no longer a ride, but a project, and I have too many projects...
