West Friesian dike ride yesterday

Yesterday I signed on to a ride with motormaatje (a website where you can join a ride one of the other members has posted, or post your own,) it was a bit last minute but it was near where I live (the start was only a half hour from my home). Anyway it was a large group (over 26 bikes) and we rode over the West Fresian Dike, one of the oldest Dikes in the Netherlands, with some nice bends.

Anyway I was surprised to see that 6 of the bikes (mine included) were FZ6's

We started in Hoorn, rode along the IJsselmeer to Medemblik where we stopped for a bite to eat.

rode further along the Dike through Alkmaar (my home town) and on to Rustenburg where we stopped for a drink (and where these pics are taken). After that we headed back to Hoorn where we all said farewell.

Had a great ride, with a couple of stops on the way. It was all in my back yard but I had a great ride nonetheless :thumbup:

That sounds like a fun ride!

26 is a large group indeed - tough to stay together in a big group like that. It's fun to be part of it too, when you pass people and see their faces as all those bikes go whizzing by. Love it!

It was a large group, but luckily the "dike" is quite quiet, mainly used by cyclists and joggers so it was just one long snake of bikes, maybe not the best way to ride but it was fun :thumbup:
Yes mines the faster red one (in the flock of FZ6's).

levee is the good American word according to wikipedia, a manmade wall as a defence against water, they used to be made of clay although nowadays the new ones use all sorts of modern materials. In Holland the older "levees" () were made twisty as this gave them more strength.

Over here "Dijk" has nothing to do with sexual preference .
