That's a serious bike. I have a 99 and that is the first bike that really scared me. Power wheelies with no problem and it's bone stock save for an aftermarket exhaust. You twist the throttle on that thing and it will go right now.

Sure sounds to be one bad a$$ bike. Too bad it's so fugly.IMHO that is... Maybe it'll wear on me like my VR did?
Agree but then again, the V-max has never been a really good looking machine but it sure could run.

A friend of my dads had one for a few years and that thing had some torque to it, it could pull the front wheel up with not too much clutching.
man it is ugly, but i still kind of like it in a weird way, i might get one when i get older as a transition into cruisers for me...

I think it looks awesome, but imagine it with black exhaust pipes and black "snorkels".
I shudder and I KNOW! hubby has one, he pays alot but....our insurance company found out about his mods and dropped it as of April next year when the policy runs out, so we have a few months to find something else.

no its preorder thats how that works, they did that for snowmobiles for years. Thats how the FJR1300 was not sure if it still is. theres more to that than the engine that is amazing thats like saying o a corvette amazing engine but thats it. They are not saying if they are saying when. They excpect the demand to be high, it is a couple year anticipation for that bike.

I doubt it would be any more than other hyper bikes. The price tag is slated for just under 18K in the US and they are taking orders starting this month with a suggested deposit of $1,000USD.

I paid $5,600 for my V-MAX the first year it came out. Other than straight-line acceleration it wasn't that good a bike. Wind blast at high speed was only tolerable for a very short while. The compromises Yamaha made with the bike did not make for good handling or braking. I much prefer the FZ6!
yes but they did work on that it has the sport style tires. actually i think they are based off the warrior wheels if not the same, will help drastically with cornering. Im sure there will be a small windshield available. this is also fuel injected the old one was carb. big difference there. this bike is nothing like the old vmax cant even compare, just like the first gen XB and the second gen XB only thing they share is general look and name. The origninal VW Beetle and the New Beetle same thing there. This Vmax is nothing like the old Vmax. Check it out VMAX MICRO SITE Then after you look at all the technology that has gone into it you will understand the reason it has the price tag it has plus u have to look at inflation! back in the early-mid 1980's when the Vmax was introduced things were alot cheaper and people made alot less money so if you figure it all out prob the price is in tune with how it was back then. In 2006 with inflation gas was cheaper than it was in 1950. These companies dump millions in R&D, If they didnt think it would sell they wouldnt have produced it.

I'll take the old bug hands down over the new one any day and it will live a much longer life. You can push inflation and adjustments all you want but the ratio of cost for a gallon of gas in 2006 to that of raw income is huge by any comparison to fuel prices of the 50's and early 60's when gas was 18.9 cents per US gallon and I am old enough to remember that. Yugo built a car after dumping all sorts of money into R&D and we all know what that did in terms of sales. Much like the Kwacker H1 and H2 the V-Max will go great in a straight line but much like the original, it will corner like an 18 wheeler and at 600 plus pounds that's to be expected. The wind blast at speed is going to be huge with this type of ergo.

I kinda like the style, but there's no way I could justify the price, especially when it weighs almost 700lbs, and doesn't look to be the kind of bike that can take a set of twisties.
It reminds me of the motorcycle from Final Fantasy 7, if anyone's played that.

I dont about $18k, for that much there are an awful lot of options. You can buy a couple pretty cool bikes for that, or if all you care about is horsepower maybe a turbo on ZX14 or Busa
u can buy a busa or a zx14 but u dont have a vmax, once again its a bike u have to want!
