    Drag a Knee, Elbow, Head

That's Dustin Apgar of DTR Motorsports in Phoenix. He does the maintenance on all my bikes. And he wrenches every bit as well as he rides. One of the most sincere and likeable guys you'll ever meet.

    Honda Crossrunner

Had a chance to use a Crossrunner for a week in the dolomites. The bike just made no sense to me. Riding posture: Nutzoid. To know what it feels like to sit on a CR do the following: Put a full-on supersport (R1, R6, Gixxer, etc.) on stands and hop on. Now that your heels are buried firmly in...

    Throttle Tamer: Not bad.

I can't imagine the range (by which I assume you mean fuel mileage) is materially affected. Engines use so little fuel at idle that one "yee haw" moment on the throttle while underway would use more fuel than all day at idle. Engine braking would of course be lessened a bit but it's bound to...

    Throttle Tamer: Not bad.

Mine is a 2009 and the throttle was an on/off toggle at low throttle settings.

    Throttle Tamer: Not bad.

We’re all aware of the FZ6’s nasty-ass on/off throttle response. I’d had great luck with a Throttle Tamer on my FJR so I thought I’d give it a go on the FZ. I can report from this morning’s ride that it’s a significant improvement. The Throttle Tamer, along with getting all the slack out of the...

    Throttle Tamer?

That's the one. Did wonders for my FJR.

    Throttle Tamer?

Most of us are a bit less than thrilled with the on/off throttle response of our FZ’s. I used a Throttle Tamer on my FJR with excellent results. Anybody tried one on an FZ?

    Speaking of chain tension…...

I appreciate the response but apparently I didn’t make myself clear. The owners manual gives chain slack tolerances measured when the bike is on the centerstand; which means the rear wheel has no weight on it and chain slack is at it’s maximum. Any time you put weight on the rear wheel (eg. Have...

    Speaking of chain tension…...

I took off my centerstand for a variety of reasons and mounted paddock stand spools. This of course adds a complication to adjusting the chain as it will be tighter with the rear wheel jacked up on the paddock stands (via the swing arm) rather than the centerstand and so the “normal” weight will...

    Abrupt throttle?

Aha! Bumping the idle up to 1,500 RPM helped immensely. . As a highly subjective observation, I’d say 75% of the problem went away with just this modification. Still requires a thoughtful application of the right hand but now it’s at least manageable. Thanks much!

    Abrupt throttle?

Although I’ve been riding since 1967 and long ago lost track of how many motorcycles I’ve owned, I’m on my first FZ (2009) and have thus far found it to be an altogether satisfactory mount. A few things could of course be better but for the $ it’s a huge transportation value. There is one...

    Shark helmets?

Things to know about the Shark RSI: 1: It fits long, narrow heads (like mine). 2: The RSI (unlike other Shark models) runs about a size large. That is, if you normally wear a medium, you should probably order the RSI in small. 3: The visor attachment mechanism is the best there is. If you...
