The build was finished early 2011, and since then i have ridden it about 20000km's. It is still in pretty much the same condition, the seat pad is almost due for replacement, and i have the material here to do that, and the seat unit itself will probably due for a respray in a year ago, more so...
First mock up fit of seat unit, you can still see the old undertray box underneath, that the exhaust pipes stick out too far, and the seat does not have a seat pad or paint as yet at this point...that's an FZ1 tail light, which we had to cut the seat unit to fit it into...
Some more detail photo's of the rear end rebuild, those 2 bothers titanium cans have been shortened by 80mm and rebuilt...Everything else, the underseat tray, the rear seat hanger, the fender eliminator, is custom made to fit the build.
That box is fabricated out of fibreglass, and is the seat support for the fibreglass / carbon fibresingle seat unit. Came as part of the FZ6 Cup bike kit, when i bought the FZ6 Cup racing bike.
Top triple clamp was made in Italy by Gaass Special Parts....is billet aluminium, that's been anodised black...top quality kit. Seat unit is off my ol FZ6 Cup bike, is based on a FZ1 seat unit, but is only a copy, and is made of Fibreglass, and reinforced with carbon fibre, then painted same...
it's got all the good bits!
:)
Owned it since 2007, spent hundreds of hours making it better, is still my favourite bike in my shed, in the tight stuff! 98.4hp at the rear wheel, and about 165kg's these days, goes ok. :)
you might also want to check around the headstock. and the spot where the engine bolts in on either side of the bike, if the bike has been down with crash knobs on, there is a chance that there was some serious stress around both those points.
I have been off this forum for a very long time, but i have posted thousands of photo's on here over the years, lots of mine have been lost i have noticed, mainly in the old threads, it's a pity, but that's the internets for ya! :)
Jeepers, there aint much "traffic" on this forum these days...i reckon i will have to check back everyday for a month to see if anyone who might be keen for this ride, actually comments or contacts me.
Lovely bike, but i would be putting on a big diet before tracking it! They are not exactly a lightweight bike.
Anyway, congrats on the purchase, would love that in my garage! :)
I feel like i should be posting in here, has been about 5 years since i have been on here. Hi, I'm Wolfman, i used to have 2 FZ6's, one was pink, then orange, then silver, the other i still have, is black, but used to be orange, and it might have a few mods! If anyone wants any help with FZ6...
Yeah, and still stuffing about with Yammies, doing a rebuild over winter on my 91 FZR1000, and that is gonna take a bit of work, I just know i cant stop till it's properly decent. :)
