Why can't I see most pictures?

Some 9 mo ago or so the server and software creating this forum was upgraded. Along the way some content was lost. Specifically attachments within posts.

Yep, its just since the old forum "format" crashed, all those pic's are gone.

All that shows now is what's been posted since the new format..

Yes sir! What are you using for polish? I just bought a used FZ6 and mine are a little discolored, would love to have mine shine like that. Also, what brand chain lube do you recommend?

I used "Mothers Aluminum and Mag Polish". No steel wool, just lots of elbow grease and buffing. If you ride in the rain often, your probably wasting your time. Re-do them maybe every 3 months, takes maybe a half hour. The front fender extender helps a little bit too...


For chain lube I use "Pro Honda high performance chain lube with White Graphite.
The only place it throws is under the front sprocket cover, the back wheel stays clean.

This is how mine looked when I bought the bike, used, in 2009, about 4,500 miles, wrecked, NEVER washed. 22,000 right now and just as nice..

So, yes, I think you could make em purty. One of those drill powered buffing wheels/balls would probably help alot...

Being in Alaska, if you ride mostly wet, muddy roads I don't know if your hard work will last long. The front fender extender would help. I can see you two middle pipes pretty muddy, more so than the outer'...

Maybe consider a lower cowling to defend them?

A month later and some rain and back to this...

The powder coating is a great idea for sure, I just really like the look of the chrome. Thanks for sharing your pics!

I think Joe's are ceramic coated (done exactly for exhaust pipes) and holds the heat in (popular with the first gen FJR's as heat WAS an issue).

I like the chrome better too but where you live, the coating would probably be better. Perhaps they have different colors, match they bike, silver, etc?

Like my 2bro exhaust cans and Y pipe!

FWIW most PC is baked on at 400 to 450. Exhaust gasses ard +1200°F...

You're right, they are ceramic coated. For some reason I couldn't think of what it was called.
