05 tach with 08 harness

Has anyone been able to put an 08 fz6 speedo/headlight harness into an 05 speedo? I just realised the wires are different on the 08 harness and the 05 speedo. Any help would be nice.

Edit: I got it all figured out. I was working on the wrong side lmao

Can't see the attachment via the links.
There should be color coded wires that are the same for the s1 and s2 except for the back light on the s2 version of the instrument cluster. You'll need a jumper to get your backlight on the s2.

Edit: Travis, Do you have a service manual?

Yeah it was pretty direct, there was only 1 wire left over and it was red with yellow strip, i have all the funtions i think, highbeam light, neutral light, rpm, speed, fuel, temperature, engine light. For the bracket i had some wack chinese headlight before these light bars that i used to mount the speedo onto and then i cut a metal strip for more support.

Oh ok, I see what you did there. I want to do the reverse. 07-08 speedo/tach onto an 05 FZ6. Just bought the bike, People complain about the digital tach. I think I'd prefer analog tach vs digital. Still got to put it back together after doing the bearing stem change. I didn't even get to ride it yet haha. Thanks for the info

I havent had any real issues with mine so far, i like it and it works better than the other digital chinese one i had, only thing im having an issue with is accurate speed reading because i have 1 ratio lower sprockets on front and rear so its throwing it off by 10 mph. But no problem, goodluck.

Yes, if your using the s2/08 harness with the s1 speedo you will have that extra red with yellow tracer wire. That extra wire is not needed with the s1 speedo because the s1 speedo back light is powered internally from the same power when the ignition is turned on. The s2 speedo has a separate wire (red w/yellow tracer) to power a separate circuit for the s2 speedo backlights.
