I have a dead battery and of course a full tank of gas. When I lift the tank to access the battery will I get any fuel leakage/overflow?

Thanks

I disagree. i've lifted the tank when it's full and didn't have any leakage. You should be all set.

Me too, I used 72" bungee cord with hooks to hold the tank straight, almost perpendicular to the bike.
I was scared first, but it didn't leak.

It does overflow (a few drops, not litres) through the hose when the tank is filled to the brim, but otherwise it will be fine.

Hardly lost any at all, just enough to leave a quarter sized spot on the ground. Lost one of the battery box bolts, any suggestions on sourcing one or what thread size they are?

They should be standard M6x1 metric(available at most Hardware stores). If the bolt you lost SHOULD have a shoulder, I'd order one from Yamaha or your going to squash the plastic. That or sliightly snug down and use RED loctite.

Parts 22 or 23?

I's the one with the shoulder of course. I might just try to find/make a bushing to take up the extra space. Thanks for all the info!!

If you have a local MC shop close, the shoulder bolts are VERY COMMON, especially that size.

I'd ask one of the mechanic's to peek thru their junk/spare parts box/drawer. I'll bet they'll have what you need.

(Just bring down the other one that matches the one you do have)..

Trial and error, a garage wide search, etc.

Take the other one to a hardware store and purchase a few of the closest looking ones you can. Alternatively, measure the threads per inch (takes a bit to count each ring) and the diameter of the bolt.
