Any alternatives to killernoodle's clutch slave levers ??

Hello all !

I am a bit late to the FZ6, but do love it, except of course for the poor clutch engagement and snatchy throttle. Is there any alternative to killernoodle's clutch slave lever parts ?? Like perhaps the lever from an FZ1 or something ??

I hate to sound like a complainer or like I'm exaggerating, but the clutch characteristics are absolutely terrible to me. I feel like it is taking the fun and quality factor out of what is an otherwise fantastic motorcycle.

Any input is appreciated !! Thanks guys.

New OEM clutch cable w/ teflon light oil sorted the clutch out for me. It has a narrow range of engagement but it should be smooth if the cable is well maintained.

Myself and many riders like near zero play in the throttle to smooth it out quite a bit.

Its PERFECT the way it is!

Just lube it real good like 3 times in a row to flush out the nasties then every 2000 miles or so.... Seriously, I love that it has a mini zone, its good for quick shifts! But I also understand its not for everyone!

What's wrong with KN's mod? Works like a charm for me and dozens of other members here. Is he no longer making them?

I have no experience with a throttle tamer but people here seem to rave.

I too would be interested in this mod. I left a post on the original thread asking for diagrams that I could give to someone local (UK), but no dice so far.

I also happen to like the short engagement point. It takes some getting used to but once you do get accustomed to it you can rip through the gears with a very small blip of the lever.

I'll go ahead and recommend the Motion Pro cable luber tool. The difference this will make is HUGE if you have never properly lubed your clutch cable.

Agreed about the difference!

That short throw makes it real obvious when it gets stiff N crunchy! It quickly becomes unbearable!

I'm going to be exploring a hydraulic option while I'm doing my turbo upgrade. I'll keep you guys posted.

I got myself one of KN clutch savers and I kind of missed that "mini zone" lol.

But after a while I got used to the KN clutch mod that it was pretty good. Also riding in the city was a lot easier and uphill starts lol.

i just want to chime in and say i thought the same as op, too. but after 3000 miles and dialing just a bit of "slop" into the adjustment i like it. idk how to define this slop i just know my mechanic took "the slop out" and it felt different. so i put it back in!

its still a short friction zone, i don't notice it anymore, and don't have to be "ready" and in 1st gear to take off from lights anymore. don't have to worry about making a quick turn from a dead stop into traffic and stalling the bike. all is smooth, and i can even hold it well on hills

love this bike. and OP i am just posting this to say if no solution is found i think you will acclimate to it with enough in town, stop 'n go traffic

If you have access to a MIG welder, power drill, dremel, and have the motivation to use them, you can do the whole thing for under $10.

I used the motion pro tool on the cable vs the slave lever mod and there is no comparison.
