Aprilia Mana 850 Special Report

ew...the auto transmission thing? Where's the fun? I saw a FJR at the Yamaha dealer two days ago with the auto transmission that is tiptronic...lame

*how do you rev the engine to attract female counterparts and their naughty parts? :D just kiddin

wow that thing is amazing, and only $11k seems like a bargin... I wonder how maintenance is with all the special stuff.
Thanks

The thing that jazzed me about it was having a trunk where the gas tank usually is. Yet is somehow fit a 4gal tank somewhere else on the body without getting weird proportions. I would love to have a goodly little lockable space on the bike without the bulkiness of all the stuff on the back.

My car has some version of tiptronic. I hate it.

I probably will never buy a scooter - but that thing, whatever it is, would be tempting.

I had some version of "auto-stick" on my Turbo PT Cruiser. As one reviewer of that transmission said, "It combines the worst characteristics of automatic and manual." For those that look at my choice with disdain, I got it because I was commuting in very heavy stop and go traffic (caused by tunnels) and that's just not fun with a manual. As for CVT on a bike, I could probably be convinced by a test ride if it's as good as the reviewer says. I'm not against CVT just on principle. It would be a nice OPTION to have since I don't ride primarily for the fun of shifting.

A CVT. Finally. I had a gokart when I was a kid that had one of these, now I have a Nissan, and I've ridden snowmobiles with these. I've always thought this was the best way to transfer power. The drive ratio is always optimum for what you are trying to achieve: cruising, quick take off, saving fuel, whatever.

Just like my car the shifting is a little useless. It's just a calculated point at where the CVT should be. I never use it, but maybe it would be more use if I lived in the mountains where I needed to downshift.

I would love to give this a try.
