Bike dead! Help!

Do tell, how often do you charge it from an external source (if ever)? i.e. battery tender?

I commute daily season in, season out, do upwards of 20,000 km annually; so never need to charge externally. As mentioned, I did lock the steering over a year ago one weekend not realising that I had switched the park lights on. this may have affected the battery. This battery only lasted 22 months.

I forgot; he said that as soon as they put load on the battery, the voltage immediately dropped drastically.

Being its a brand new battery installed yesterday,(POST #13) it may be faulty from the factory (should have been charged FULLY BEFORE being installed, 6-8 hours).

Are they going to re-charge it OUT OF THE BIKE, then LOAD TEST it? That's to rule the new battery GOOD or BAD.

If something on the bike is drawing down the current(with the bike off), overnight, the voltage SHOULD decrease (obviously).

You already mentioned previously getting 14 volts charging...

A brand new battery, just sitting, should NOT fail THE LOAD TEST..

Feedback: went for a 200+ km breakfast ride this morning, high beams all the way, no problems whatsoever. Looks like new battery did the trick.

PS: @Townsends; severe voltage drop under load was the old battery. :)
