very true... and we dont need to go test real world performance in turns on the highway.. with cars in the way.. at a very high reate of speed...., which in turn sounds like the beginging to a obituary headline on a news report...

I realize that we are all talking just straight line performance, but who the hell buys a bike for its straight line performance? A real bike is about how it turns... and sad to say most performance oriented cars will smoke a bike up/down a mountain pass. Those huge 4 contact patches a cage has make all the difference and the structural rigidity that keeps it all flat through a turn. My dad's M3 I know would smoke my Triumph through any twisty road. I may beat him in a straight line, but come on...

I wasn't speaking only of straight line performance. Going in a straight line is only fun for a few seconds, fortunately there are almost no straight lines on the roads around here lol.

Panameras and Teslas are surprisingly popular around here - I see them on the road every day. I don't know for sure, but I have heard both those cars are really fast.

Or me. :BLAA: My favorite part of driving in the mountains was getting stuck behind a group of sport bikes going way too slow. They pulled over to let me pass and I had my wife wave out the window.

The vehicle I blew by them in? A dodge grand caravan. They were doing 5 over the speed limit and squid wringing those bikes for all they were worth. I had been doing about 15 over and only trying for about 80% of the van's capabilities. I don't think I went over that.

Then I showed my wife how to drive like that, and she passed some other bikers. Can't wait to go up there next year on my bike. I made it clear that my buddy and I were taking our bikes next year, and the women and kids were welcome to join.

Got to love watching the guys turning (let's say left) stick their heads over the right clip-on, stick their knee and hip out to the left. Turn with your head first, I want to yell at them. But their loud pipes would probably just drown me out. ...Imagine what learning to ride that thing will do...

I just see loud pipes as annoying the normal guy. Annoy enough of them and they'll band together and do something about it. And in many places they have. Ever wonder why colors are all but illegal to wear in Daytona? Or why there are so many places there that you can't ride your bike in? Retards, and retards with loud pipes.

So as much as I love the sound of the exhausts... Anyway, rant for the day over. Go on about your business.

i have a horible amount of tickets (mostly for 5-8 over) on the car part of my license, only one warning for the bike - and i deserved the warning...

Or you weight 300 lbs which would put your 95 hp FZ6 at a huge disadvantage v. a 700 hp car. :BLAA:

I had the wife on the back of the FZ yesterday...combined we only weigh in at about 250 lbs....The bike felt PAINFULLY slow compared to solo riding (I'm 140 lbs). I can't imagine that you guys over 200 lbs can think this bike is "quick" at all. 600cc's do not do well with heavy riders.

LOL!! I'm the same weight, and have pondered the same thing. Even in the cars! Whenever I have a passenger, I'm thinking "Why is this thing so much slower all of a sudden?! Does a few extra hundred pounds really do that much?"(the answer is of course, YES, it does). Heck I even notice the handling change, even at mellow around-town speeds, as well as reduced braking distance. Too in-tune with my vehicles, and too used to my weight not having much impact on them I guess.

Well I know the FZ6 will do a 1/4 mile at 11.8 at 118 mph (Exact same time and trap speed as the Nissan GTR) when driven very well. and IMO 1/4 mile times are a much better comparison than 0-60 times (most cars have a shift or even 2 to get to 60 MPH VS the FZ6, which almost hits 60 MPH in 1st gear! I know that typically I will beat most sport cars for the most part (STI, Evo, GTR, M3, M5, Gto, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, SRT-8, etc...) to about 120 MPH, but after 120 MPH forget it, I have a 200 HP Nissan SER Spec V that will do 120 MPH to 145 MPH in the same time my FZ6 will, on a closed course of course

Eventiabley it was always going to attact some "anyone can go fast in a straight line" kind of talk but I was just looking at raw figures.

It's true that it's unlikely we can hit those times regually. Personally when I'm pulling away from the lights I tend to give it a little too much throttle as I don't want to stall and end up really picking up the speed once i hit 2nd.

I don't advocate drag racing, but we've all nipped on a bit of right hand to over take a car who's decided to floor it. It's nice we still have the power in reserve to cope with that.
