New to me 2006 FZ6 with 15k miles. I notice in neutral with the clutch lever released it is much louder. Is this normal? It seems to perform just fine.

Yes, there is going to be some noise when you disengage* the clutch. It is more pronounced in dry clutch bikes. The problem though is "noise" is a subjective term, it is hard to say that yours is normal without hearing it. Grumbling/grinding noises are definitely bad.

*I should have said the lever

Agree, most bikes are noisy in neutral when you release the clutch..
